Hmm, if these Twitter rumours are true, maybe I should have stuck with 'Power of the Daleks' and 'Marco Polo'...

Two episodes of Doctor Who - 'Airlock' (part three of 'Galaxy 4') and 'The Underwater Menace' episode two have been recovered from 'an elderly film collector'.

They are just rumours at the moment, but there seems to be some sort of official announcement coming up...

Wow, you're right. You do need to be more careful what you say! Do you live over a temporal fissure?

Well, I also said

Ahem, mememe...

"I think I can categorically state that there is absolutely no possibility of any further missing episodes of Doctor Who turning up at this stage, particularly not the missing bits of 'The Web of Fear', the last episode of 'The Daleks' Masterplan', any part of 'The Massacre', the last episode of 'The Tenth Planet' and especially the entirety of 'Power of the Daleks'."

There you go.”

So here's hoping!

Totally shocking and fantastic news, though!

Last night on radio four extra's The Unbelievable Truth (comedy panel game - a good one) one of the truths was that Batman and Robin in one comic time travelled in order to rescue Marco Polo.

Marco Polo must have got rather used to time travellers popping up all the time.

Anyway, not worth a whole thread, but it did remind me of our cherished Marco Polo thread. (worth taking a look back to first pages for Marco Polo opinions followed by a story by story review by someone watching classic Who for the first time. With excellent contributions from knowledgeable fans.

This is one of my all-time favourite threads. How lovely to see it back.

She was flitting about here last week ... but I don't think she'd fancy updating this thread for the whole time of her absence.

Mine too! It is delightful. Tiggs has been seen around recently so if you've been a very good boy and wish very hard she might say hello.

**sees the word Tiggs written down and runs in**

She promised she would be back more often now. I remember I had not answered one of her questions in one of the other threads, but the answer would fit more in here. I started the beginnings box with William Hartnell. I have watched "An unearthly child" on youtube, which wasn't very good quality and we have an old VHS tape with the Daleks. I've never seen the Edge of Destruction, but looking forward to it. What does strike me about each of the episodes, how much Ian is like the tenth Doctor (I wonder if the tenth Doctor was based on him), and how unconcerned the Doctor is with his fellow beings (truly alien).

Edit: I'm not a David fan girl, but I never thought about Ian's role before.

I'd just like to resurrect this old thread to remind everyone that this is in fact the second time that I've named specific episodes as something that have no chance what-so-ever of turning up, only for some of them to subsequently appear.

So, I'm taking the credit for this one! Mwhahahaha!

Well if you're taking requests could you please deny the possibility of any more of Evil of the Daleks ever turning up.

Well, obviously, there's no such thing as The Macra Terror. The Macra Terror does not exist!

Frankly, I'm too busy reeling to do anything else at the moment.

NINE! Nine missing episodes returned! Frankly, any ONE of these episodes would be unbelievably exciting, but NINE!

There's now ELEVEN consecutive existing episodes from SERIES FIVE! ELEVEN! SERIES FIVE!
