Gail is implicated in a con that Joe sets up to fake his own death. It goes wrong and he is killed but Gail is left in the frame.

David tries to cover it up which makes matter worse and Gail ends up behind bars.

Who does she meet in prison? None other than Tracy Barlow.

Tracy has some info that leads her to blackmail David, this results in David resubmitting his original statement that was retracted at Tracys trial.

Tracy is set free while a retrial is planned and is eventually found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to the time she has already spent behind bars.

Has anyone else heard this?

Haha, that's brilliant! Hope Gail gets out too though!

Well I hadn't read this before, sounds good! (if true)

I knew she'd be back after a few years. I said at the time how silly it was to put her in prison for life. but that's a great way round it

Sounds good, but is it good enough to make me watch corrie again? Not sure.

What a fantastic storyline twist! Never thought I'd say that about Corrie. Definitely enough to get me watching again for the time being.

Wow, seems really well thought out for Corrie.

It'll be three years by the time this storyline comes around. She was jailed in April 2007.

Ta for the info. Must admit it's a great storyline and I'll look forward to watching it pan out. "Gail in Jail" - a must see!

Doubtful. AFAIK Phil doesn't start at Corrie until March.

i was very skeptical about how they'd get Tracy out of prison but i must say it sounds like a good storyline. Even if it is a bit far-fetched it sounds good and it clever that Gail and Joe's storyline will link in with Tracy's and also with her and David's storyline from 3 years ago.

I don't recall Platt retracting any statement. I don't see how this would get her out.....although I accept that it probably will

That's actually a really clever way of getting Tracy out of prison! I have to give the writers credit for that. I wonder if she will be out when the Simon's grandad storyline is still going...

David was part of the defence's case in court, after he had attempted to blackmail Tracey by saying that he saw her murder Charlie. However, he fell to pieces under the prosecution's questioning and IIRC decided to tell the truth rather than risk a charge of misleading the court.

EDIT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SERx6...eature=related (starts at 1:27 - think there may have been a scene after this which I can't find at the moment, but that's his testimony)

What on earth Tracey will have on him now, and why the CPS will bother listening to him are moot points. I'm sure there's a massive loophole which we haven't seen yet.

Tracey's arrival could be interesting considering the situation between Steve and Becky at the moment. Steve won't let go of Amy easily.

Talk about stretching the limits of dramatic license to get someone back in a soap! Ridiculous.

What a desperate farce! lol

I think both Kim and Phil are working together on a handover period thing- so this was probably a combination of both ideas!

If it was Phil's idea solely then this makes me excited for the future!

I wonder how she'll get on with Becky, did they ever meet?
