Yeah..I started this thread to guage what peoples 3G usage was..not wi-fi as i suspect a few of the repliers are talking about..

I don't have access to wi-fi so the 3G limit is a bit of a big deal for me considering how darn handy the phone is..

I checked the other day, and viewing a simple page from a forum such as this one uses approximately 300mb..as safari is generally useless and you have to pop back and forth when viewing forums/threads, that can add up to quite a bit in just one days forum scanning..

I'm not able to edit the above so, that'll be 300kb not mb..

I'm blaming the weather..

Are you sure? Don't you mean 300kb?

I think the question you should ask is...Has anyone ever had their service curtailed because the exceeded the 3G data limit? I suspect that the answer would be no...Certainly, no one, so far, on this thread has indicated that they had....
So I think you will find it an unnecessary worry....

300Mb????? thats riddiculas!!
If Orange know this too why have they capped us at 750mb??
I've only just got wifi at home in the last 2/3 weeks but in the day (when im at work) i use Oranges 3g to access sites like The Sun that is blocked at work.
I'll keep an eye on what i use for the next month but either way what can i do as im stuck in the contract with Orange!!
It makes me so mad that they say it's a FUP but then they slow down our 3G access when we go over so isnt this technically called capping???

Just to clarify again..I couldn't edit post 28..therefor replied with post 29 which said i made a mistake, and it's 300kb..not 300mb..

I've had a trawl through various sites and have found no-one thats had their service curtailed..in fact, after the initial outcry over the 'limit' there's been precious little chatter about it to be honest, which is why i thought it would be a good idea to keep this thread going..especially since i got the 'Your internet access will be slowed for 10 days' message.

Certainly, if anyone does get any tougher sanctions it'll be nice to at least have some 'target' to aim for in 3G use..

Had quite a few calls over the last few days about this - have not actually seen anyones speed reduced yet though.....

Anyways, the T+C's state there is a FUP of 750MB a month, so I don't understand what the issue is? Hardly Oranges fault if you didn't read the small print...

At least we warn you ... if you go over 1GB on Vodafone you get charged £5 per 500MB additional usage, and they don't warn you.... whereas we don't charge you, but reserve the right to slow you down a tad for a few days, but not charge you any more?? (I think we just disable HSDPA on your account, so you still get 3G, just not high-speed 3G)

I used about 1.2 GB last month and so far this month have almost used 3GB of data. Have not had a peep out of Orange. And for those who done believe me here is the evidence. I last did a reset of the stats in mid January. So this just just the total amount for the last 6 weeks.

Reading Oranges help section on the IPhone itself it seems that if you go over 5GB of use they will cut your speed without warning.
