Oven cooked bacon
I have googled bacon and oven cooking it and some people say its the best they have ever done it. Now I have cooked it when making pasta bake dishes but I never for a bacon buttie.
I was thinking of trying it this way later. Have you ever done bacon in the oven and what were your opinons?

Yes! I always cook bacon this way now, especially for sandwiches coz I like it crispy! I lay it on a baking tray (covered with foil so it's easier to clean) and put it in a cold oven, whack it up to about 200 degrees for about twenty minutes. Don't overlap the bacon though, do it in a single layer!

Will try this for lunch. I have some spare bacon. Thank you. |

You're welcome! You might want to watch it for the last five minutes, just in case it starts burning... My oven does it in twenty but obviously all ovens are different!

I oven cook to make it crispy for BLTs but not for bacon sarnies/butties. Also, for BTLs I prefer streaky and back or middle for sarnies/butties.

5 minutes under a hot grill on a foil covered tray gives you the same result and uses less gas/electric. The best part is you can smell it cooking better.

![]() Two or three minutes depending on taste and, contrary to what you might imagine, it is perfectly possible to make it crispy! |

I remember a drunk friend of mine desperate for a bacon buttie decided in his infinite wisdon to whack some bacon rashers into his toaster and put it on it's side.
Was the bacon crispy? Oh yes! ....and so was the kitchen.........

My grill is part of my oven, and I was under the impression you had to heat the grill up first anyway. And this way, I dont have to keep watching it.

Nothing beats frying it in a pan with a little oil.
It just doesn't taste right cooked any other way. |

I love it done in the oven. Mmmmm.
Second best is under the grill, I'm not a big fan of fried bacon for anything other than a fry-up. |
