Does anybody else rate him

God, yes!

Sad that he is best known for Without You and Everybody's Talkin', neither of which he wrote, when he did write wonderful songs as diverse as Mournin' Glory Story and Coconut, Without Her and Good Old Desk.

Lovely voice and incredible vocal technique too.

Sadly he lost that incredible upper range due to a drinking binge with John Lennon Nilsson lost his voice during the sessions, rupturing one of his vocal cords, keeping it a secret out of fear that Lennon would abandon the project. Released as Pussy Cats, it was his last album to make the Top 100. During the same period, he also embarked on a project with another L.A.-based ex-Beatle, Ringo Starr, acting and writing music for the little-seen Son of Dracula film.

The upper register of Nilsson's voice, which was ultimately his greatest asset, had been permanently (though not irredeemably) damaged.

I love his music. 'Aerial Ballet' and 'Harry' are two of my favourite albums, but I think all of his albums are good. I think 'One' is my favourite song of his.

Also worth mentioning is 'The Point', a child's musical cartoon he wrote. It's a lot of fun with some really good tunes like 'Me And My Arrow'.

I have a soft spot for 'Open Your WIndow' from 'Harry'' and his version of 'Mr Bojangles'. Just waiting for the 'Son Of Dracula' soundtrack and 'Flash Harry' to come out on CD now and haven't got that compilation of his early stuff either
