Is this phone recommended? What is the camera in it like? Is it tri- band?

V600
it is a good phone, has quad band, camera quality is very good has a 4x zoom, also Bluetooth, the only thing i think it not good is searching for contacts you can only put in the first letter of the contact you are searching for, not several like Nokia phones, one final thing no FM radio which is a must for me, i've sent the V600 (14 day return policy with Orange) back because of this.

Steve Stanley I think it was about £20, which is the same as what you'd pay for the Nokia headset that you need to listen to the 'built-in' radio anyway. |

I've never used the E700, so can only give an opinion, but the fact that the E700 is only dual band completely puts me off it. Also, the fact that the V600 can use MP3s as ringtones is pretty cool...

![]() I'm not too bothered about video recording or playback on phones just now since the quality is never particularly great. Probably be at least another year till there's any decent video options available, so until then I'm content with my V600!

I can say now, this phone is wicked. I am not bothered about the FM radio.
But I would recommend it. Its a good all rounder. But don't forget about the Sharp GX30. Get that if your after a camera phone. Saffron |

I don't understand what the fuss is about whether a phone is quad-band or not? I know it's essential to some people but most aren't likely to travel all over the world while they have this phone are they?

the software in the v525/v500 can be updated to turn it into a v600.

Yes, you can flex them to a V600.

i have heard that sometimes flexing them can cause problems, and they need completely reflashing.

Yep, flexing and/or flashing can cause problems, but not that frequently if done correctly. It basically comes down to whether you want to take a small risk to get the extra options like video, etc.
I've got a V600 anyway and would say that it's not really worth it if everything is else is fine, though I did flash and flex my phone anyway just to change to the latest software... |
