Twin Troubles
The Sutherland family is rocked by the news that Jade is not really Kirsty's twin sister!
From the moment they arrived in Summer Bay, the lives of Kirsty and Jade Sutherland have been filled with drama. But nothing that has happened in the past few years could prepare the young pair for the bombshell that is about to be dropped on them - Jade is NOT Kirsty's twin sister after all!
In one of the most shocking storylines ever to be played out on Home and Away, life for the Sutherland family will change forever when it is discovered that Kirsty has an identical twin sister! A mix up at the hospital 17 years ago resulted in Kirsty's real twin, Laura, being switched with another baby girl born in the hospital at the same time - Jade!
But that's not all! TV WEEK can reveal that when Laura arrives in the Bay to meet Kirsty (Christie Hayes) for the first time, a devastating chain of events will be set off that will climax with a tragic accident. And while we can't reveal who will be involved in that accident, we can promise you'll be glued to your screens in coming weeks.
The Incredible situation begins to unfold when Rhys (Michael Beckley) receives a strange call from a Mrs Degroot. Soon after, the Degroots (played by Anna Lee and Damian Rice) visit Rhys. They deliver the news that Jade is their biological daughter, while the daughter they raised is Kirsty's twin! As Rhys struggles to come to grips with the revelation, he wonders how he can break the news to Kirsty and Jade (Kate Garven).
But they're about to find out the truth for themselves. When Laura (also played by Christie Hayes) takes a walk around the small coastal town, it's not too long before she runs into Kane (Sam Atwell), Seb (Mitch Firth) and Jade, all of whom mistake her for Kirsty. Quickly realising something is astray, Jade and Kirsty head home., where they are introduced to Laura. And they simply can't believe what they see or hear.
"Kirsty is just amazed when she sees a young woman who is the spitting image of her," Christie says. "She is just completley taken aback. I can't even comprehend what it would be like."
"This has come at the most inconvenient time, in terms of where Kirsty's at," Christie says. "She's just got married, she's just dealing with being pregnant and so she is quite emotionally scattered. This news really knocks her back. There are so many unanswered questions."
But it is Jade who takes the revelation the hardest. Running from the house, Jade is painfully aware she is not who she thought she was and neither is her family.
"Jade is obviously the one who feels like the outsider, like she doesn't belong," Christie says. "Kirsty is very worried about how Jade feels about it all. She will always think of Jade as her sister - undoubtedly. They've been together for nearly 18 years."
"Kirsty's main priority now is to make Jade feel as loved and as close to her as she can. And I can also say that Kirsty will find herself in need of something Laura can give her!"
