Is it a bit early to start this? Just thought I'd post a thread summarizing all the stars I've heard rumoured for this years Strictly (I know, its miles off lol).

So, here are the names I have heard-

Jane Asher- Actress
Jarvis Cocker- Ex-Pulp Frontman
Abbey Clancy- Model/ WAG

Who else has been touted so far?

Going by the last few years..........

Couple of former sports stars - would like to see Tim Henman take this up; possibly Clare Balding could do it, maybe someone like Jonathan Edwards.

Eastenders stars - would be brilliant to see Babs Windsor now she is leaving but as she wants to spend more time with her husband don't see it - maybe Charlie Clements (Bradley) would fit this role.

BBC Breakfast star - there often is one - maybe Sian Williams turn?

Ex-wife/girlfriend of a notorious male celeb (like Penny and Jo) - so not a well-known person. Maybe Lise Mayer - partner of Angus Deayton? She fits into the obscureness but also is a TV writer.

Former popstars - am thinking maybe Faye Tozer from Steps, or an old S Club Junior, maybe Aaron Renfree or Calvin Goldspink - be something for the teenies.

Celebrities representing older generations could be Amanda Barrie (although she walked out of Hell's Kitchen), and Peter Davidson (BBC would like it that he was an ex-Doctor.

TV presenters such as Nick Knowles have always been an obvious choice who haven't done it, maybe even Gaby Roslin, a former BBC favourite.

Maybe DJ and kids favourite Reggie Yates could appear on it, and for comedy, comedian Gina Yashere.

Some of those seem probable.

I think Nick Knowles has said he'd never do it though- I don't know why, tbh!

Then again Joe Calzaghe said he'd never do it and a year later...

It would probably have been for the best if Calzaghe had stuck to his word lol

Aaron Renfree is I THINK in We Will Rock You, and Calvin is Chipmunk the rapper type person. Apparently.

Faye Tozer would be good, or someone like Fiona Bruce for the tall women brigade.

I know the breakfast crew from Capital Radio (in London) having been trying to get Johnny Vaughan on there for the last three years. He interviewed Alesha a few times when she was on it and she kept on at him but he said 'Never'.

Chris Moyles was asked to do the show previously and he turned it down. However, he got really into the show this year and they covered it on his breakfast show for the first time. I wouldn't be surprised to see him taking part next year.

I'm quite glad about that since the two times I've seen him in a SCD content he's given the impression of being an arse - touting the jealus hatus arguement of why Lisa wasn't more popular and especially on ITT this year with Lisa where he insisted on commenting on the dancing on the Friday panel despite the fact that he knows eff all and was there to talk about music. Lisa must have the patience of a saint to work with him.

Chris Moyles is 5'9 so maybe Chris and Lilia?

I heard Naomi Campbell wants to improve her public image with a stint on a reality show. She did do the Italian strictly for like an episode? Maybe we could get her on ours

Angela Griffin has mentioned Strictly is the only reality show she'd like to do, so maybe she'll sign up this year.
I think though however hard they try their never going to get A-list celebs and whoever turns up your never going to please everyone.

The paragraph I've highlighted is my idea of a living hell. Just the kind of contestants Strictly does not need.

And I'm sure most teenagers are more intelligent than to now admit any interest in the likes of S Club Juniors.

And Peter Davison has a successful career and does not need to do Strictly!

Angela Griffin would be quite a good contestant. She's tall so maybe Matthew Cutler?

Yeah that's who I thought she'd be good with if she took part

For the youngsters Dani Harmer (Tracy Beaker & Dani's House) who seems to be turning her back on acting to pursue a singing career. Would be good with Vincent as only 5'1".

Amanda Mealing (former Holby City Doctor). 5'6" + would not put her with Anton but not sure who else.

Amanda Mealing might suit James or Brian? I think Brian and Amanda especially might be quite a good pairing.

Lets assume the One Show theme continues (Dom, Christine, Phil, Rav) so I'm guessing they'll either go for Adrian or Gyles Brandreth. The other theme that seems to be developing is taking a Loose Woman (Gillian, Lynda) so maybe Denise Welch? I know she's been rumoured heavily for the past couple of years, as was Jane McDonald actually.

If they get either I can imagine it being Denise & Anton/ Jane & Darren, although I think Darren has more than suffered with his partners recently so deserves someone a bit younger.

I think they should go all out for a Girls Aloud!!

While Cheryl is involved in TXF its pretty hard for the other members to carry on with the band, so maybe one of them would welcome the challenge. Sara and Nadine I think might have other work in line but not sure about Kimberley or Nicola...maybe one of them would be up for the challenge.

I suppose its pretty unrealistic given the success they have had, and dont quite need to go down the 'reality tv contestant' route just yet though!

That's definitely true - both him and Lilia deserve good partners next year, as does Flavia, and probably Ian since he was denied this year (I could see him doing well with Angela Griffin actually).

I can see Adrian and Ola being paired up, or is that too similar to her having Chris this year? I'd like to see what she could do with a younger partner (i.e her age or younger), but as defending champion that's not likely to happen!

and we need a tall partner for the lovley Ian

any ideas ?

The breakfast telly person seems to alternate between Breakfast and GMTV

So GMTV's turn - what about Penny Smith - she's 5ft 8 - she and Matthew would be hilarious.

Amanda Mealing could go with Brian.

We must be due another snooker player - John Parrott maybe - 6ft 3 - could go with Natalie

Jarvis Cocker and Erin would be fun.

Jane McDonald has been seen a few times - so what about Jane with James
footygirl

Chris Moyles could go with Kristina.

Charlie Clemments is 5ft 9 - so he could go with Lilia.

And if we have the twist of Hannah Waterman doing it she is 5ft 2 - so maybe one for Darren

So so far this is what has been suggested

Charlie Clements..........Lilia Kopylova
Hannah Waterman.......Darren Bennett
Jane McDonald.............Vincent Simone
John Parrott.................Natalie Lowe
Chris Moyles................Kristina Rihanoff
Jarvis Cocker................Erin Boag
Amanda Mealing...........James Jordan
Penny Smith.................Matt Cutler
Adrian Chiles................Aliona Vilani
Angela Griffin................Brendan Cole

I'd love Penny Smith to sign up but read an interview with her where she said she was asked to do Series 1, declined, and then did the Just The Two Of Us singing version instead. She now really wants to do Strictly and has approached them a couple of times but they're not really showing any interest in signing her. If they are avoiding contestants who did do Just The Two Of us, then that rules out Hannah aswell.

An off-the-wall suggestion for the older celeb:

Late last year, BBC Breakfast interviewed a Mr Alice Cooper. Seemed to me that he was up for something like SCD. And despite his age (61 I think) fitness is not an issue due to the touring that he does.

I've got one!!

Amy Robbins. She's currently in The Royal (ITV). She's 5'10'' and would be a great match for Ian.
