I have sent it to her, and 10 other links to videos of amputee ice dancers plus links to the websites of the american and canadian amputee ice hocket teams ..... but then the truth won't stop her lies.
With any luck it will shine a light on those skaters a bit - they deserve kudos. |

I would guess a lot of people though, after what she said, will be googling amputee skaters and working out the truth for themselves.

I guess someone starting the thread Saint Mucca wasn't going to be giving her the benfit of the doubt. She has been asking to hear from other amputee skaters.
I take it you found one rather than 100's

God you would think Heather Mills had p!ssed in some posters' Christmas punch - talk about trying to find something to get annoyed about.

And that justifies her lies?

I take it you found one rather than 100's ![]() But she did make a big deal of saying she was the "first" and "only" and that she had been trying to find others with no success. That sounds odd to me, because if you google it there are loads of results - and the way she said it sounded as if she had been trying for weeks to find one single other amputee skater. THATS my problem with it. |

Uhhh, I'm no fan of hers – but do you really think someone would be so stupid as to set themselves up (publicly) on something that is easily checkable? She said she couldn't find another amputee ice dancer to seek advice from. Guilty of bad/lazy research? Perhaps. Why should she be ashamed of that?

Nope hundreds (including myself) ..... there are bloody amputee ice skating competitions for Christ's sake - it's not hard to find and most people who have lost a leg and are interested in sport know about the theraputic benefits.
Cool - I hadn't checked. I assume by ice skaters it includes Ice Dancers. We know she does tend to embelish the truth a bit but hey I still think she is doing a good job for increasing awareness of amputees to people that don't know. I respect her but not sure if I like her |

She uses her impairment as self-publicity. She has never once challenged the real issues for disability |

No she isn't.
She uses her impairment as self-publicity. She has never once challenged the real issues for disability I have to say with HM - I knew she was an amputee and I have heard her speak about it, but I don't remember her ever raising a specific issue and trying to get it sorted. More that "I am doing this even though I am an amputee" kind of thing. Not that I necessarily would call that a bad thing if it encourages others to try new things, but as a campaign it seems kind of light. |

Out of interest, what would you say those things are, especially these days. I know there are a lot of issues, but as usual for most people I think, as it doesnt affect me or anyone I know personally, I don't really think these things through so would be good to have the perspective of someone who knows...

I would be interested to know how much charity work the people who are decrying her do - people may not like her but it does seem a bit much to claim she isn't trying to make a difference through her charity work. PS I have never posted about HM in my life - but some of the rabid posting about her on here is frankly bizarre! |

Actually HM says in this interview she found an amputee hockey player ... who wasn't that encouraging.
http://www.whatsontv.co.uk/reality/d...hallenges/7848 Plenty to have a go at her for, but on the whole I preferred her to a lot of the women celebs tonight. |

Having just googled her name and checked out her website it would seem to me (but what do I know) that she is involved in a lot of charity work (particularly landmines) - she also seems to do lots of work re her vegan beliefs.
