Actually HM says in this interview she found an amputee hockey player ... who wasn't that encouraging.
http://www.whatsontv.co.uk/reality/d...hallenges/7848 Plenty to have a go at her for, but on the whole I preferred her to a lot of the women celebs tonight. |

You should all be ashamed of yourselves, I am not a great fan of her, but give her a break, on X Factor you criticised everyone, now you are at it again, yes I am critisizing you, but you deserve it, she doesn't.
Get a life folks. |

LOL, Now careful.......you are being reasonable when talking about Heather Mills and she is obviously the Devil and therefore not worthy of commonsense decency and reasonable treatment.
Burn the witch!!! (Just thought I would join the pitchfork brigade) I know, wonders never cease eh? But what the heck, I'm up for a bandwagoning ruckus, can I borrow your pitchfork?

Having just googled her name and checked out her website it would seem to me (but what do I know) that she is involved in a lot of charity work (particularly landmines) - she also seems to do lots of work re her vegan beliefs.
I would be interested to know how much charity work the people who are decrying her do - people may not like her but it does seem a bit much to claim she isn't trying to make a difference through her charity work. PS I have never posted about HM in my life - but some of the rabid posting about her on here is frankly bizarre! I personally do a lot of charity work. Its time consuming and difficult but worthwhile in the end, especially when you can see the difference you are making. My problem with Heather Mills is more that I cannot see any tangible effect from what she supposedly does. It always annoys me as well, when rich people rabbit on about "campaigning" this that and the other, but give very little if any of their own fortune away. I am not saying that stars who do charity events etc etc are doing no good - of course they are and every little helps. But the ones that do the most good are those that do the events, but also put their money where their mouth is. |

What she said was
that of all the amputees on her website there wasn't one that ice skates. Also in the VT all she said was she had never seen an amputee on ice which was probably true at the time (August/October - not sure which). They start in August and meet J&T in October ish. <<------------ tired of the Heather bashing. She did a good job tonight. |

http://www.whatsontv.co.uk/reality/d...hallenges/7848 Before I began training I went online and looked to see if there were any figure skaters out there who were amputees. There weren't any |

..... she should watch this and feel bloody ashamed at her repeated self publicity
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpMNYqHTats Even the bosses Torvil and Dean stated they knew of NO OTHER skating amputees. You obviously just have an agenda about HM no matter what she did you would probably make a point in the negative towards it. I am glad you sent her the links, that is what she wanted in the first place LOL.

I agree, some of it is a bit. I don't like her and am quite willing to say so, but the flip side of that is that as far as DOI goes, I do think she is pretty great giving it a go, and she certainly skated well enough to deserve her spot in the next show.

She would do far more good actually promoting help for amputee people all over the world, by actively and genuinely campaigning for them - but I fear this hasn't happened. * I say this because she practised with a straight stick style leg and seemed to skate with a shaped one. She might also have spares, which ups the limb price even more. |

The OP has got a severe anti-Mills bias and frankly, the unending vitriol is getting a little bit tired.
I actually don't give a toss about the details of what she said regarding whether she thinks she is the first person without a left ankle ever to get on ice skates. Nor do I care whether she is on the show to promote herself, one or all of her many charitable causes. I hardly think that she is the only one of the whole DOI line-up with an axe to grind in terms of self-promotion. What I do care about is that she tries hard, turns in decent performances and doesn't try to gain any sort of sympathy vote, when she has chosen to enter a competition against able-bodied people. So far, she's doing a good job. I see no reason why Heather Mills' campaigning efforts should be dismissed because they were not for people with a similar disability - why should she feel that it's the most important part of what she can offer the world? I also feel the OP is missing the point, as someone with a disability of their own, that able-bodied people will gain an understanding and respect for the efforts of those with disabilities that any number of adverts, documentaries etc. on the topic would not be able to give them. This is a forum to discuss a skating and entertainment show. Judge Heather on those and do your full-time hating somewhere else. |

I posted this in another thread, but if one subtracts the cost of, I presume, two* "skating" legs (£40,000 each) from her fee - the balance goes to "her" charity. What is that balance - £40K perhaps?

You obviously missed the point, SHE ASKED if anyone knew anyone please contact her because she was struggling with some of the skating.

Where, please, have I been vitriolic?
Referring to Heather in a thread title as St Mucca and damning her for her 'repeated self-publicity' seems pretty scathing and caustic, particularly in the context of a show in which every single contestant is going to use the opportunity for self-publicity. And for a cheap point, you're also keen on accuracy, as shown by your references to exactly when Heather's landmine charity closed down. Referring to her as St Mucca is deeply inaccurate when she no longer uses the McCartney name. I also note you have demanded apologies from people who have challenged your assertions before. I hope the above serves as a statement of why I won't be offering an apology. |

If Mills was really interested, she would have done the research and perhaps, attempted to help amputees in a "high profile" way - but there's been no sign of this.
I know she claims to be an "inspiration" (narcissisim run riot here) to amputees, but what exactly does she do in the way of charitable work for them??????? ![]() I live on the south coast and on the radio tonight they interviewed the man who made Heather's prosthetic leg for DOI. His business is in this area has been in the business for many years. He said that they were not aware of anyone who had danced with a prosthetic leg so it was a difficult job and it took him a long time to come up with the right one. Even before she danced on Sunday he was called upon to make an adjustment. He said that she learned to ice skate in only 6 weeks and that this was impressive. Also that Heather does a tremendous amount of couselling work with amputees and her reason for doing DOI was to show other amputees what they could achieve. So please give her a break. Yes, she may not be everyone's cup of tea but unless you have lost a leg how can you possibly know what it feels like. |

I would imagine that very few amputees would be able to ice-skate, because they cannot afford to have "skating legs" custom-made for them.
I really can`t see how watching a rich woman ice-skating on television would be an inspiration to someone stuck with one NHS prosthesis. But maybe I`m wrong. As for "counselling"- you need to be trained to do that. Has Heather been trained? I have an idea that her idea of counselling is saying to some poor sod "You can ice-skate too!". |

I am assuming the above is a joke.......virtually each and every one of your posts about Heather Mills is forensically vitriolic, a personality mugging which is fairly unpleasant to observe.
This I agree with
