I have relatives in Kent. Would a Facebook group help? If you set one up I'll send it to my cousins and they can send it to their friends. Aunt and Uncle in Eynsford, cousins and friends more spread out and another Cousin in Dartford.

I know I may be stating the obvious Stud so forgive me but I assume she is chipped and you have contacted your local vets / rescue centre etc?? And put posters up locally? Have you checked with the neighbours too?

Not been on pc for a few days, just wanted to say so sorry to hear that your little cat is missing. Fingers crossed that she will come back to you soon. I know how you must be feeling. I look after some friends' farm cats on occasion, and I became very fond of one of them, he was so affectionate, and used to come for walks in the fields with the dogs, and he just disappeared without trace about a year ago now. I still hope one day he will return, or that he just got fed up with the outdoor life and that someone took him in as a pet at a house somewhere on his wanderings.

Can you not just put them up and see what happens - maybe they wont fine you?? Or else pay the fine? If it gets puss home then it will be worth it!

What about putting notices in local shops?

As you cannot put up public leaflets it would be worth (if you have not already) printing out a few dozen leaflets and putting them through as many doors as possible in neighbouring roads. If she doesn't have collar ID someone could have found her and not know who owns her.

Our local free paper sometimes features missing cats or dogs might be worth looking into something like that too.

A friend of mine's cat went AWOL, just before Christmas and hadn't returned home after a week after putting leaflets through neighbouring street doors, posters up, alerting vets, and cat rescue websites etc. So she decided on day 8 to go and do another leaflet drop through the doors and in less than 36 hours someone phoned her and said they thought her cat had just walked into her kitchen....she had been cooking fish and fortunately it was the cat, so after 10 days, they were re-united.

So please try another leaflet drop through neighbours doors stud, you have nothing to lose.

Cats Protection have put an ad in either the Extra or the Folkestone Herald not sure which one they just said in the local. That goes to around 44,000 homes in the area,so it is the best and legal way of doing things without upsetting people as a lot of doors have "no canvassers,no hawkers,no circulars or even only stamped letters". So it makes it very difficult.

I have a notice like that Stud but I would not be cross if a lost cat notice was posted through the door - it's quite different to a double glazing ad or pizza leaflet.

But surely people understand if you are looking for your lost cat???? I mean people aren't that heartless are they? You are not selling, canvassing etc you are looking for your cat?

Sorry - I just think you need to think 'fcuk other people' and do what has to be done to find IP.... What about the shop option too? Putting a piccie and poster in your local shops?

A lot of people do not read the local paper very closely (or at all) so I wouldn't rely solely on that.

I agree with molliepops and RG22. No hawkers/canvassers/junk mail does not IMO include no lost cat notices. And if it helps to find your cat, never mind if it does annoy a couple of people.

I felt a bit reluctant to do this myself when my cat went missing, but it resulted in him coming home within two hours so it was certainly worth it! And aside from the person who found him, other people were also very kind, I did not get any negative reactions.

Maybe I am just a loon but as my girl isn't an outdoor cat I'd be really worried and would have no shame or hesitiation in being the crazy cat lady and putting up posters / knocking on doors!!

I think it's a sorry state of affairs if people get annoyed about receiving a 'lost cat' flyer....
