Having uploaded my contacts to my new 6600 when I get a text through from somebody instead of showing the name it shows the number.

Any ideas??

Had no idea digitalspy had a mobile phone forum how useful.

I have a 6600 and i had this problem. Is it on Orange? Sounds like it is. You need to change the contacts number to the +44 format. So if it was 07951574388 you need to change it to +447951574388 in the address book.

I know 4 people who bought it on Orange and had this problem. 1 Person on Vodafone who did not, and 1 person on 02 who did not. So its somthing Orange did to the software.... unless its somthing else...

I've just unlocked a 6600 which was on Orange so that a friend could put her Vodafone sim in and all her SMS show the number instead of the name. We've tried moving the numbers from sim card to phone and vice versa and still no good.

We did notice though, that if you save the number of someone who has just sent you a text, you then get the name instead of the number. Hope there is another way to resolve this because saving numbers from received SMS is going to be really tedious!

The reason why the save from text message works, is that they are sent in the international format +44 (UK).

For many years I have always entered my numbers in this fasion +1 (USA) +44 (UK) etc. As I used to travel quite a lot.

It's just the case of entering +44.... instread of 0... Like wise +1.... for the USA, Spain +34... etc.
