Berghaus Alaska Gemini Jacket ladies

Hi there, I was looking for a bit of help. I'm trying to decide whether to buy this jacket, in Black.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...YT0ZWVFV83BRZS

I wondered if anyone on here, maybe has this jacket, and what their opinion is on it?

Is it large made? or small?

Is it completely black? I don't want any flashes of colour atall.

is it worth the money? I need a hard wearing 3-1 waterproof.

I live rurally, and would be purchasing it online, therefore any opinions would be appreciated.

thank you

I wouldnt recommend buying without trying. Check the hood fits right. I've bought in the past without trying the hood. Sometimes they are too big and dont have adjustments to make them smaller so you can see with the hood up.

between 2 and 3 hundred, I don't mind a bit more if it's an exceptionally good jacket.

Depends what you're looking for.A lot of the more expensive high-end stuff focus more on being light weight as much as anything else.Do you need it to be ultra light-weight?

You could probably get away with a cheapo fleece and a waterproof jacket from the market

If I had to pick a good brand of outdoor shizzle I'd say Mountain Equipment are not too shabby.Berghaus are ok too.I speak from absolutely no experience however

I'd say fit is pretty important. Even with more expensive jackets, if they dont fit right you've wasted your money.

OP, I'd would also consider the clothes you might wear under it. It needs to be ig enough to fit a couple of layers under, but not so big that it is drafty and makes you cold.

I'd arrange a day out to somewhere with a few good outdoor shops and try some on.

Berghaus are an excellent brand. They are waterproof, windproof and last for ages.
There aren't any other colours on it as far as I can remember, apart from the lining being blue, but that is on the photo.
It will be close fitting (i.e. not baggy) but not particularly small or large. If you want a baggier fit then go for a larger size.
That is a good price for a Berghaus.
I would try to try it on somewhere - check the returns policy.
I used to work in a shop that sold Berghaus, that's how I know this.
Enjoy!

Outdor gear is very trendy! OP, where do you live? I used to work in the outdoor biz, for a fairly well known chain, as a store manager then a buyer. I'm still a heavy user of such stuff, as I ski, climb and walk in the mountains.
Cotswold have a remmnants/clearance shop in Betws-y-Coed, which has a high concentration of other stores too. In fact, either a UK mountain area town or London are the bst bets for shopping for this kind of stuff, though Manchester is not bad either. No nearby competition, but Snow and Rock, J11 on the M25 is good too. I'm a north face user for a preference, though that's cos it's fairly focussed, which may not be what you need. Sprayway, Berghaus, Mountain Equipment all make more general outdoor stuff, suited to general dog walking, standing on cold fields as well as being hillwalking capable. If you want all black, I should think North Face or Berghaus will be the most likely.
