Cheryl: I would do [X Factor USA] if asked

Taken from her Glamour interview:

Quote:
“Then thre are the murmurings that Simon Cowell is lining you up to do The X Factor in the US?
"I would do it, obviously, but I don't have this massive ambition to break America."

So what does Cheryl Cole Ltd have in store?
"Cheryl Cole Ltd," this sets off the dimples again. "I like that, but I don't class myself as a brand, although I know everyone around me does. I do what I like, at the end of the day - I'm just me"

Cheryl's new single, 3 words and her album of the same name are out now”

I don't think she would've been asked because I can't imagine her accent alone would help. But does anyone think we'll see any of our judges on the US version? I think Dannii could work...

woudnt they want some american faces on the panel? since its X Factor USA. it might make it easier for the contestants to relate to when it comes to the mentoring part of the competition

Well AGT is judged by Peirs Morgan and Sharon Osbourne, so there's no reason for them to use completely American stars.

I'd predict a panel of:

- Simon
- A male US star/producer/song writer
- Chery/some other pretty pop singer
- An older US female star

a bit similar to our line up

If so many in this country struggle to understand Cheryl when she's talking, then I doubt Americans would understand her. Americans struggled with Ant and Dec when they did a show over there, I'm sure.

apparently she and Nadine have both been taking elocution lessons for that very reason.

Cheryl for XF USA and Nadine so she can promote her solo work in the UK

I think Paula Abdul is almost certain. He hinted that she might be one of the judges at the press conference and on twitter she said:

Quote:
“Hey Guys! I'm not ignoring all of your tweets regarding me, XFactor and Simon leaving AI. I look forward to being able to answer all your... questions very soon! I appreciate all your continued support and patience! All my Love! Paula”

I doubt we'll see any of the UK judges although the fact that Simon is on the panel means that there is no longer the same pressure to get high profile names so perhaps their chances have increased. The most likely people to go over seem to be the Executive Producers! Dermot probably has the best shot of the on-screen talent.

They'd be better getting a popular hot, young American to play the Cheryl Cole role over there and there are plenty of people who could do what Dannii does (and neither of them have any profile over there). It's actually harder to think of a manager that could play Louis goofy role!

He didn't specify what Paula and he would do together, but if she isn't lined up as a judge, my guess is that she will be his Brian Friedman and be the creative director of the show.
She'd be great at that as dance is what she does best.

As for Dannii, she has a profile in America.

Biggest no brainer in history.

What did Cheryl do to launch herself as a successful solo UK recording act. - became an X Factor judge.

What's the best thing she could do to try and launch herself as a successful US recording act?

She'd be daft not to.

Paula will get Brian's 'job'. I'm almost certain of it.

Cheryl will have to get rid of her accent and that would be a bad move imo, as that's part of her charm here in the UK. If Simon does judge then Louis could be a possibility but I think Simon would probably go for somebody 'cooler' to aim more at the kids.

Ironically, I think out of all the UK judges Dannii would most easily integrate into the American market but she's probably not even being considered.

Cheryl's refused elocution, I'd probably say they're going for Paula.

I'd go for Amanda I dont know how much she knows about singing, but I prefer judges who know what they're on about and who are a little older.

Yeah, I think Paula is almost certain.

I guess it depends if they want to be taken seriously or get high ratings, The X Factor is must more scripted and contrived then AI.

I do think Dermot could host it though

I think Kelly Rowland would be a good/likely candidate too. She's admitted herself she'd love to do it.

In fairness, considering American Idol is being axed, then those judges on the show should be asked first before anyone else.

But in Cheryl's Q Magazine interview which was less than a month earlier than Glamour, Simon is quoted as saying

Quote:
“ I think Cheryl will eventually become a big star in America, I predict that." In 2010 Cowell plans to take the X Factor to the States. Will he take her with him? "Ideally not," he says. "I'd like to keep the British show as it is."”

That's big news. Where did you read/hear that American Idol is being axed?

American Idol is not being axed, FOX are in advanced talks to extend it by further few years (they're already contracted to do a series in 2011). FOX were quite clear that they are committed to both series.

While she'd be good at it and it does seem obvious in some ways, I think they'd want her as a judge. They will want to promote the show on the basis of the judges rivalry and "Simon vs Paula", after their years of warring on Idol, could be a good way of plugging the new show.

I wouldn't have thought so. She sometimes makes good comments but they won't have any trouble finding an American to do that (or be scripted to do that!) while still bringing more hype to the show.

Same with Cheryl. Yes, she has chemistry with Simon but they're going to have Paula anyway so they don't really need that. And part of what worked with Cheryl was that she already was quite high profile before she arrived on XF.

Louis remains the harder one to replace as a character. He's up for a laugh, willing to take a lot of hits (groups every year, Irish jokes) and has a great husband/wife-like relationship with Simon. Most music managers that spring to mind are going to be far more serious than Louis. Because I'm guessing that they'll want at least one more "behind the scenes" person for the show.

Seems quite an obvious one there. Everyone is talking about her doing XF UK but XF US would seem just as likely with her. Could see her working well on that.

If Paula is on X Factor she has to be a judge. It would be silly to have Paula in any other role. There is already a built-in audience that love the Paula/Simon dynamic, they play very well off each other, and have great chemistry. It would be interesting to see how Cheryl would fit in since she is Simon's UK version of Paula. He has that same "mock flirting but more adorable younger sisterly" type vibe with both.

Paula will work for Simon on the X Factor US. I'm surprised there is even any discussion on this.

Don't folks realise how close they are?

I, along with other conspiracy theorists, have always thought the reason Cowell has got behind Cheryl Cole and "given" her two winners in successive years, is that he does, or will have a hand in her "US career". The rumours that she could well go to X Factor US, just confirms this in my view.

I'm not sure how her winning would help at all though

Her accent is probably a lot more important to her having a us career than whether she won here

Her popularity in the States is all that matters.

Being handed a slot in what will be the number one show is a gift for her. It will generate the profile and popularity she needs to kick off a recording career.
