We've finally decided that we need a Freeview pvr as well as a foxsat pvr but which one should we go for? I can't find anything on the forum comparing the 320gb with the 500gb version but I tho0ught I had heard that the 320 was the best. Any advice would be very welcome.

Both versions are otherwise the same and so have the same functionality.
I'd expect that any impact on having slightly different drives concerning power consumption, heat generation and the like would be just theoretical at the moment.
Where you thinking of the difference between the 9300T and the 9150T? Comparing the front display of the 9300T with the 9150 and IMO the 9300T wins hand down even if the price difference is a bit silly. The 9300T's display is also a great improvement on the old 9200T.
The 9300T also has upscaling to HDMI which is handy if that is all you have spare on your TV.
If you want to modify the Humax terrestrial PVR then Humaxrw (http://humaxdisk.wikispaces.com/HumaxRW) will currently recognise the 9300T but may not work on the 9150T without further development from XYZ123 and a little assistance of a 9150T owner.
Thanks for the info. No, I wasn't thinking of the 9150. This is the 500gb version of the 9300t. I've read in a few places that the build quality isn't as good in the 500gb version and that it locks up more often. But the 320gb of the 9300 seems to get consistanly high ratings.

Surely the two versions of the 9300 are simply the same box with a different hard disk inside, I don't see how the build quality can be any different and I'm sure it isn't.
That would have been what I thought as well. It's just that the reviews on the two versions seem to diverge so much that I needed to check other peoples opinions or experience.

As said in Big-les's post (#4) and my post (#2) these are the same machines but with different hard drives fitted.
The hardware of the 9300T has changed since the original model e.g. the removal of the USB port. I have a later build and the hole were the USB would have been is covered with the covering saying ‘do not remove’. IMO if the hardware has made a difference then it will have been a historical coincidence that a below average run off the production line got a 500GB.

I wouldn't worry about those reviews or waste any more time looking, simply decide what size disk you want and go for it. As you've already got a Foxsat PVR I would have thought the 320GB disk would be plenty.
Thanks to both of you for taking the time to answer. I'm ordering one tomorrow morning and will leave the size of the disc up to he who will be paying for it, but I think he will go for the 500 gig. Thank you again.
Totally agree with Big-les that these reviews are not worth worring about but I still could not resist looking at the Tribesmart and amazon reviews of the 9300T500Gb anyway.
Both are from just one reviewer each and are old software and therefore the stars are less than they would have been if they had the latest software.
The new software is going to be broadcast very soon and your box will update automatically if left on stand-by overnight when it is broadcast. Ive been using the new software for three weeks and have had no lockups.
The tribesmart review appears to be saying that the build quality is poor because of the lock-ups. Hardly correct as the lock-ups are due to the old software.
