poor sales so more cheep half naked photoshoots.. And now one of them's doing reality tv, what next? They must be seething though because they're quite opinionated girls but those opinions haven't been backed up with success, quite a shame really.

These threads are getting pathetic now.

First off their single is in the top 10, something other bands are struggling to do whilst keeping there recording contract.

"Half naked photo-shoots" I dont know which millennium your from but you seemed to have miss out on

Do I need to go on??

Seriously how can anyone knock them for it? Every woman in pop has done it. Im pretty sure every woman in pop has done some form of reality tv show.. Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Victoria Beckham, Cheryl Cole. Not only were Girls Aloud formed on a reality show ALL OF THEM have branched off into some sort of reality television. All saints have done reality. Britney has, Christina has.

I just get fed up with all this bitching at a group that are doing there jobs like every other group has previously.

All of the above are incredibly successful, though. The Saturday's are just trying to get a few more fans.

the difference between the saturdays and those mentioned above is that those mentioned aove are majorly succsesful, somehow that doesn't seem like its gonna happen for the saturdays.. the hypes gone. Also I mention the saturdays because they actually come across as quite stern, opinionated girls so its a shame that they have to resort to that. I actually quite like their songs by the way, so I'm not attacking them because I can't stand their music or anything.

no no no..... not every woman in pop has done it...only those with poor/dodgy material have done it. dusty springfield, annie lennox, kate bush, siouxsie sioux, alison moyet, the list of TALENTED stars not to have resorted to nakedness is huge.

its gone on in the last decade or so because the general standard of music has dropped.

i believe theres a firm link between the ammount of flesh on view and the quality of the music.

Haaaaang on... I like her and all, but Siouxsie didn't? My eyes must've deceived me, must not have been her that went around everywhere with her tits hanging out then.

If you use your flesh to talent ratio on the female punks then surely apart from Poly Strene not many had much.

I doubt its desperation, maybe its just to earn a bit more money. I'm still a fan though, I have a T-shirt on with The Saturdays on it as I type this (got it when I went to see them in London last June)

Why is it a shame? They're just a manufactured pop group that no one will even remember by the end of the year... not like it's anything important.

well thats true to a degree, but bondism was part of punk fashion. she didnt exactly writhe around in her underwear did she?.... well she didnt when i saw her! lol. but alot of punk fashion was about shock...being dareing, and whilst siouxsie did initially embrace bondism she soon ditched that in favour of her 'godmother of goth' look..

well , lets face it, female punks werent actually very good! but there are exceptions to the rule... lady ga ga for eg is very good and doesnt need to use sex to sell (indeed i dont know anyone who bought siouxsies music 'because shes fit'). the saturdays however have failed to a degree to capture the british public and 'stripping off' was inevitable to capture attention

its a shame because the sats had some promise of being abit different, they were supposed to be 'classy sexy'... with good material. theyve failed on both counts!

Maybe it is a bit 'desperate' as some put it. But I'm still a fan of their music. They seem like nice girls too. they're not the first to do this, and they certainly won't be the last.

It looks to me like Plan A was Frankie and Rochelle's appearances on Never Mind The Buzzcocks (unbearably embarrassing), Plan B was to get publicity via Rochelle's opinions on other artists, and now Plan C is... give in, clothes off.

shame, I've always liked the Saturdays, no work and football in the afternoons.

I like most of The Saturdays' music as well, but, as I've said before, one of the main things they are missing is a standout single - a huge memorable hit song that stays in the top 10 for a long time and/or sells a lot. Girls Aloud and Sugababes have had plenty of those.

Ego did chart in the top 10 at the weekend, but is it really the kind of single that makes you want to buy the album? Not really.

They can do the sexy photoshoots all they want, but if they don't have the real quality songs and the record sales to back it up, it does come off seeming as desperation.

Ego is ok but as I said in another thread I think Wordshaker is a weak album compared to Chasing Lights. Maybe that's why its not doing so well (does anyone have the sales data for Chasing Lights?)

Yes Chasing Lights was much better. Even some of the album tracks are better than nearly everything from Wordshaker.

Not sure of the exact sales for Chasing Lights but it went platinum in the uk for sales of over 300,000, whereas Wordshaker has barely scraped over 50,000, and I'm not that surprised - although they are performing Ego on Dancing On Ice on Sunday, which should give them a timely boost in sales.
