LAMHE gone, POP+1 added
It looks like LAMHE has been removed from G_MAN, and replaced with POP+1. POP+1 was on the SDN mux, but appears to have now become Tiny Pop.
I'm not in the NW today to confirm this with a TV, this is just remotely from a tvcard. If anyone else wants to confirm it properly and post to the changelog (linking discussion back to this thread) feel free. |

* Correction - POP+1 was on COM5/ARQA before moving to G_MAN
Digital UK industry listings confirms that POP+1 can now be found on LCN 127. Two spare LCN slots for childrens channels - is that OK? ![]() So the Manchester local mux lineup is as follows: 50 Movies4Men +1 54 Heart TV 56 Capital TV 60 Fire Hit TV 67 Chart Show TV 127 POP+1 Is it permissible by Digital UK's rules for the following to happen: 50 Movies4Men +1 51 Heart TV 52 Capital TV 53 Fire Hit TV 54 Chart Show TV 127 POP+1 There was a reason why LCN 48 was left vacant for sometime, the above would release LCN 56, 60 and 67 to become vacant for use from any multiplex while G_MAN channels co-habit channels (51-53) used in Northern Ireland, NIMux/RNI_1. |

The big question about the Greater Manchester Mux, is when (if ever) will Your TV be arriving in Manchester?

Any one know why Chart Show does not start till 10pm on g_man, when its got a 24 hour video slot, bit strange showing a "programmes resume at 10pm" slide when it could broadcast all day like it does on Satellite?
Unless they are planning on using the daytime hours for another kids channel? Tinypop+1 maybe? or popgirl or kix? |

Looks like G_MAN has gone off air approx 18:45 this evening. No signal at all detected here. Or possibly I've got a very mux specific problem with my TV aerial - but it is probably G_MAN. Anyone else confirm?

Thanks. Looks like the mux came back at approx 21:45. Not the first power problem they've had - see back to November 26th 2013 - page 16 of this thread. I guess they have limited backup systems in place.

How do I Get these channels back? I had to do a factory reset on my box now I have lost them. I have lost them before but it's been a while and I can't remember how to get them back. I am aware the signal is weaker compared to other channels. I am in the Stockport Area. Thanks

Have you done a manual tune by putting in the UHF numbers
Not a scanned tune ... Otherwise check connections and keep the ariel lead away from HDMI, |

Doing a manual scan on C57 is a reasonable suggestion, but it will only help if the signal was below the detection threshold when the full scan was done, but has now returned enough to be found.
Did you check that a G_MAN channel was watchable immediately before you did the factory reset? Even then, coincidences do happen and you could have had something else degrade your signal just at the right moment to trick you. There are lots of reasons why your signal could be lower than previously. The tx could be on reduced power (unlikely with G_MAN since it is so low to start with), atmospheric conditions could be against you (weather, trees, interference from another source), your aerial and/or cabling may be moved/damaged/water logged. Since G_MAN is the most marginal to receive due to higher signal rate and much less error correction than L_MAN it is generally going to be the mux that shows up any subtle local faults first. |

FireHit TV on Ch60 has been broadcasting nothing but black screen for over a week now, all other channels on G_Man MUX (Heart TV/Capital/Pop+1/movies4men+1) have been broadcasting as usual, so it's not a fault with the MUX.
Clearly no one works at firehit TV, or monitors the channel output, as they have form in the past for broadcasting static videos for days on end, but as it's black screen now, maybe they have gone "belly up" so EPG 60 may be for the taking soon?? |

Due to the number of channells in the mux it isn't modulating at QPSK and consequently apart from poor antenna radiation and high adjacent ch power causing problems the power is simply too low for adequate coverage. To fix this should cost very little indeed and there isn't any cci issues in other areas through lifting up the ERP 10db, providing it is done as it should. |

G-Man isn't the most reliable of services, sometimes disappears until someone gets around to fixing it. It is OK most of the time in its designated service area which I'm just on the edge of. It was due to be turned off a while ago but Canis Media took it over as a sort of test bed to enable companies to asses their products viability. Picture quality leaves a lot to be desired, source material seems to umatic or similar often poorly converted analogue NTSC. Due to its low power you need a good outdoor aerial. The beam is cigar shaped towards Stockport. Adjacent high powered channels don't bother my Sony TV, can't speak for other brands.

Hello
Please can we have an update on the contents of this mux? SIDs, PIDs etc included please? Also, what about the Manchesdter version of the local mux on channel 56? I can see Meseyside one but not the Manchester one. Just wondered is there any difference with the SIDs and TSID etc. Thanks |

I notice from Ofcom's monthly licensing update that Fire Hit TV's terrestrial TV service is no longer licensed:
http://licensing.ofcom.org.uk/tv-bro...updates/072015 I see Digital UK still lists Fire Hit TV for channel 60, but I am aware those in the coverage area of the Manchester local multiplex have reported the channel not doing much over the past few months. Can anyone confirm whether the service is still live? |

Sounds like the blue screen needs to be removed! Would free up Freeview channel 60 for something else. |
