You havent said what size but having had a Samsung for 2 yrs now i would go for this :
Samsung LE40B551A £599.00 everyone comments on the picture quality, i've had absolutely no complaints at all with it. I am very very happy with it on Sky HD and looks amazing with Blu Rays. The only thing i would change it for would be an LED one. The drawback of your question is you will get every make recommended, ultimately the choice is yours but at that price you wont be unhappy with which ever one you choose.

For home TV I'd always go Plasma before LCD.
Size wise 42" is gonna give you the best bang for your buck since it's one of the most competitive sectors of the TV market 1080p vs HD Ready... Unless you sit ridiculously close there's very little difference in perceived resolution between the two. I also find that a good quality HD Ready TV often beats the 1080p TV competing at a similar price. ...and so we look at 42" Plasma screens for under £600 and find Samsung, LG, Toshiba and Panasonic. My vote goes for the 42" Panasonic X-series HD Ready plasma

For about £650 you can now pick up a 1920x1080p projector.
You can save up for a screen later?

It's an excellent TV and they are very happy with it. |

There is some doubt about the longevity of Plasma TVs.
I have read that Plasma may have a shorter life span than LCD which is why I spent £900 on a 40 inch Sony LCD 18 months ago. |

cheers for the replys ive got a panni 50" in the living room and the picture has always been great but its 3 years old now and you get a lot more telly now for your money than you did then iv'e always liked the pannasonic brand but these new led tvs are nice as well its for the bedroom so im going to build it into the wall rather than hanging on it it'll save me braining my self on it like i did with the last one much to my wifes delight and the tvs ultimate demise

Anyway, Plasmas have got a bit slimmer, but if you are feeling flush and have a spare four or five grand to throw at it then there's a super-slim Panasonic range - the Z1 series. ![]() Oh, and whatever you do you must read some of the reviews and comments about LED TVs before parting with your cash. There's some very unhappy bunnies around |

Any recomendations for a £400 budget? I am after screen size as large as possable and must be hd ready or 1080p (not fussy) with at least 2 hdmi ports (sky hd and ps3) Composite (xbox360) and scart (for surround sound system/dvd player).

well i went into currys with my 600 notes ,only to be told they didnt have the panasonic txp 42s10 that i wanted ,infact they didn't seem interested in selling anything really more interested in talking to each other ,so i popped next door to pc world to see what they had. very little as i turns out seems their shutting their shop and moving in with currys, but one tv that they had which did catch my eye was the samsung le46 b750.after a bit of hagelling i got it for £699 which seemed pretty good after checking the prices through the old iphone the best price i saw was £1150 + delivery .
all ive got to do now is get it on the wall i'll let you know how it is

well i got the samsung fixed to the wall and up and running , i must say what a great picture it is, the sounds ok but ive got it hooked up to the home cinema which makes up for the ok sound on the tv,one thing ive noticed is a bit of blurring on some programs with fast movement which doesnt seem to happen on the panni downstairs . all in all definately one to be recommended

So you don't think £20 is worth an extra 4 years peace of mind
![]() John Lewis website have sold out of this telly and it has dissapeared off its website over night (was their yesterday). Iam sure I saw it elsewhere with a 3 year warranty for a similar price, cant remember where though. My Goodmans TV died last week after 2 years out of the blue and Iam getting HD withdrawl or something, so very tempted by Mr Sainsburys price. |
