basically it the new hit american tv show to come to our shores and its a comedy-drama musical, but the musical numbers are covers like gold digger and take a bow. its a bit like ugly betty in its style and hsm with its setting being in a high school.

however the glee club is full of the unpopular kids

There was a thread in the Television forum a week or so back, prior to yesterday's episodes of course, debating whether the show would have a similar effect on the UK iTunes chart as it did in America.

Looks like it

I bought Journey - Don't Stop Believing, and the version by the Glee cast

Glee is just so entertaining. It's not for everyone, but I think it's great entertainment - funny, musical, naughty HSM type American goodness

HMV are selling import copies of the music-both volumes for £9.99 each in store.

Clever move.

Also noticed some of the songs are iTunes exclusives too.

Everyone is buzzing about this show at school. I just want to tell them what's happened as i have see all 13 episodes.

I knew us Brits would like it but will the audience stick around for future episodes. I hope so

I'm gonna be on the look out for those import soundtracks as I will be going to HMV at the weekend.

I can see what you mean but I enjoyed every single episode, mainly due to the hilarity and my love of certain characters and the amazing music!

The first two episode is also repeating tomorrow on E4 for those that missed it; or even just want to watch it again.

Er - hello?

HSM may be a very superficial reference point for Glee - but it is wittier and much racier than that Disney pile of goo. It has real heart but its trick is to very cleverly walk the line between sentimentality and taking the p***. It's also upset the religious right-wing in the US - they don't think much of a chastity club being ridiculed and the villain's sidekick being a hypocritical Christian. So not really traditional 'American goodness' at all ... Thankfully!

No idea if it sustain the excellent start it's made but I sincerely hope so. It's brilliantly carried off and anything that prevents appalling conveyor belt R&B and 'dance' music from dominating the charts gets a big thumbs up from me.

C'mon, Gleeks - get downloading!

Its pathetic that people buy music because it was on TV. Its like the X Factor all over again

If you genuinely liked the song, you'd have bought it because you like it. Instead it's being bought cos some stupid show plays it.

You think that's what's going on here? Have you even seen Glee because if you had, you'd know that the songs on there are sung by the Glee cast and are not just the original songs and artists. If you didn't watch the show it's quite likely you'd never hear their versions unless introduced to them by someone else.

Maybe they had never heard the song, prior to the show?

Or perhaps they want the Glee cast version, as opposed to the original?
