I loved 'Testify' Phil's last album!

You can listen to it here. http://www.amazon.com/Testify-Phil-C.../dp/B00006IR5R

Cannot wait to hear Phil's new album, but I would prefer to hear some of his original material, which he has already written.

Phil has said in this interview that his new Motown album will feature up to 30 songs and wants each song to sound just like the originals.

That sounds really good, I can't wait

Wouldn't you be better off buying the originals instead?

Quite.

And why on earth do something that Michael McDonald has done already?

Particularly when you are so rich you don't need to work anyway.

Phil cannot stay away from the music business, it's in his blood.

Yes he had an affair, but it's hardly the worst crime around. You have had Hiphop artists in shootings & the likes of Winehouse addicted to coke. But people still buy their records !!!.

Welcome back Phil .

I've probably got all the originals but I like Phil so will put it on my birthday present list so the kids have something to buy for me.
Wish he would do some more Genesis though!

I won't be buying.

He had an affair. Not justified imo.

I want the whole Genesis to reform Peter Gabriel included and a long tour followed by an album now that would be a sell out! and leave me one happy boy!

How can he do any better than the original recordings? Just cheap & lazy.

But then is he going to do the realy commercial motown or the hidden gems that nobody touches? Either way you can bet it will be dreadful.

Its like trying to recreate the mona lisa using a biro.

I've heard those rumours too, but apparently he and Eric Clapton were just good friends.

I hope everyone in your record collection is squeaky clean for your sake then.

Well, you say that, but his cover of "You Can't Hurry Love" was almost a carbon copy of the original in sound and became one of his biggest hits.

looks like phil has gone the same way as rod stuart releasing albums of crappy cover songs.

Loved his 80s genesis solo material.

I sort of like him.
It's not my fav kind of music but I do like him and have since the 80's. He's a great drummer and I loved his collaboration with Frida.

So I'm curious to hear this.

Oh dear, he's bald and committed adultery so therefore he must be banned from releasing music?
