Could anyone see Joe McElderberry doing this?

http://www.flickr.com/photos/36078598@N00/2577084547/

Big beaming smile. "Cheryl, this is for you"

Amusing to think that a whole lot of kids who shouted their opinions for both 'camps' weren't even born when this happened...

Haha, I can explain that, the PMRC wanted to censor the gig at Lollapalooza 1993 and their debut album which was released in November 1992, but they couldnt do anything until after they played the very first note on the very first song, so instead they stood there with no clothes on and the mouths duck taped and handcuffed for around 15 minutes in protest, they played a free gig a month later.

I remember the incident well, for a while the PMRC was the bete noir of every rock band in the world. Mr Mustaine also penned a fairly vitriolic little ditty about Tipper Gore and her cronies.

Nobody seemed to mind, however, when her husband became US vice=president...

(PMRC = Parents Music Resource Center, for those who dn't remember/weren't born. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PMRC)

Interesting. Somehow I feel that RATM are not the world's best at negotiating.

Attempting to negotiate with Tipper Gore was like smearing yourself with pate and attempting to negotiate with an alligator...

Surely the title of this thread should be 'The very last word on RATM vs X Factor'

What a bunch of knackers! They have limited themselves. Reducing themselves to exposing themselves in a public place. What a way to get attention.

They made no dent in the Simon Cowel Machine. SC is bigger! In more ways that one. Where are the RAT(s) now when Simon Cowell is negotiating his huge, meteoric drive, into the American market for XF?

Little Cowards! They targetted a young naive 18 year old and decreed success! Success my backside.

Where are they now to take on the SC Machine with American Idol? Christmas No 1? You were all taken in RATM. So incensed on emotion you lost the plot.

Like their miniscule p*n*s*s they have shrunk into oblivion when it really mattered.

People don't attack mediocrity only those making a difference.

Well you just attacked the RATM folk, yet again.

I'll leave you to work the rest out.

Can I just ask without getting back into the argument of whether the christmas campaign was right or not...

What has this photo got to do with it? Seriously I don't understand the point the OP was trying to make...

I would never attack anyone making a difference. My attack in this instance is even mediocrity. The attack is on miniscule p's.

That was part of your earlier, self indulgent rant. You attacked the campaigners, who made a huge difference to Xmas this year to the great satisfaction of millions

Your statement confirming that you feel that the campaigners made a difference.

I often giggle reading your stuff CARA2000. You more than anyone need to proof read before hitting the 'submit reply' button. You tie yourself in knots so often. Thanks for the laffs!

And also, thanks for reminding me of you continued resentment that RATM stopped Joe getting the number one Xmas single. Of course, you still struggle with the facts, but it was ever thus. I accept that is your way and will no doubt come up in your future tirades (the campaign was over weeks ago. Get over it. )

As a general rule, its often best not to comment on things you dont understand CARA. pehaps you should heed this advice as you clearly just dont get the point of either the picture or the motivation behind the protest. No, instead you decide to childishly make petty slurs about the size of the bands genitals thereby showing yourself up quite abysmally.

I think there are a few on here who are often in hysterics reading your stuff.

I didn't start this thread up. You need to remind the OP not me.

I agree. I hope you are taking your own advice.

Once again DS Forum user UnrealityTV falls into the trap of posting a bit of frivolous humour, completely forgetting that there is always a teenage keyboard warrior somewhere whose head it will fly miles over, will take it terribly seriously and as an excuse to post yet another indignant rant.

Lighten up a bit, eh CARA? It was only a bit of fun. X Factor may be the be-all and end-all of your existence, but a lot of us out here treat it for what it is - inconsequential entertainment.
