Yes, it was that memorable!

(It was when she was still on x faxtor, went out at teatime, only ran for one series, in the timeslot that Alan Titchmarsh is in now.)

lmao, I remember it was so bad.It was actually her second chatshow, as she had one in America that flopped beforehand aswell.

She had zero chemistry with any of the guests and she used to have all these soapstars from emmerdale and corrie on and she would mix up the various characters and storylines of each show.

But the worst chatshow was Anthony Cottons, which was also in that 5.00pm timeslot on ITV1

I remember his awful singing, dancing and interviewing.

That was him - I knew there was someone from Corrie but couldn't remember his name, I only remember him being really really annoying.

Well, considering Jay Hunt's desire to replace Arlene with a "Black presenter" - this may well be the way the BBC wants to go: positive discrimination.

The Beeb's last Black sleb who had a chat show (Ian Wright) was so buttock clenchingly awful I coulldn't watch the screen for more than a few seconds before switching over.

Positive discrimination is a cr*p idea. All you have to do is place people in jobs based upon their competency, not their colour or sex. It's not rocket science.

Alesha Dixon speaks with the old "white" London accent - she doesn't speak the sing song mixture of Black/White/Asian sounds that many younger Londoners display.

Saying "was" instead of "were" is simply part of the old Cockney accent - and as I recall, Alesha was brought up by her white mother. Brian, the Black winner of a previous BB also spoke with an "original" Cockney accent - fostered by a white foster mother.

However, it is expected by viewers, that people speaking with regional accents (as Alesha's is) have correct standard grammer, which Alesha doesn't have at the moment. I can't see anyone wanting to "change" her grammer - since this will be considered "raw and real" and part of her "diversity ".

Quote:
“BBC1 controller Jay Hunt has defended axing Arlene Phillips from Strictly Come Dancing by saying it enabled a 'young, black, woman presenter' to replace her.

The 43-year-old appeared to suggest the decision last year to axe Miss Phillips, which sparked scores of complaints about ageism and sexism, was offset by bringing in a presenter from an ethnic minority: Alesha Dixon.

How insulting to Alesha, Arlene, the viewers etc. This was probably an attempt by JH to deflect criticism away from the ageism debate but these comments are disgraceful.

Who would want to hear that they were replaced because they're not black? Or that a factor in getting a job is because you are black? How offensive.

Are you reading the same article as the rest of us, Jay Hunt never had a desire to replace Arlene with a Black presenter, she was only pointing out that by appointing Alesha they had achieved something else, albeit probably unintentionally, that was missing from BBC, Alesha would have got the job regardless of her colour, and Arlene would have been removed regardless of age or colour

*giggle* I imagine the producer did try, saying that's good Arlene but could you black it up a bit? - "Yo mutha! respect this shiznit! Banging!"
Can you tell the only contact I have with them is from 70s exploitation movies?

Maybe Jay Hunt needs to re-think how the show is representative in terms of sexual orientation. I think heterosexuals & gays are well represented but where are all the lesbians?
