Teddy Pendegrass, the voice of Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes has passed away at the age of 59.

One of the great voices of American Soul/R&B. The song If You Don't Know Me By Now was allegedly a big influence on Glen Frey of the Eagles who wrote Take It The Limit after hearing the song.

Sad loss - RIP Teddy.

Just heard the sad news

Such a legend and what a voice. His legacy will live on in his music. Even long after the Philly years, he released the Joy album which I still love to this day. In fact, I think I'll play it now as my personal tribute.

RIP Teddy.

It is, I'm just listening to it now.

RIP Teddy: fantastic songs, great production, beautiful voice... and on occasion, slightly dodgy lyrics!

Heard about it this morning. Surprised there aren't more responses. He was the man and I have most of his LP's from back then.

My tribute to him

My mum loves his music, I remember growing up listening to him. Didn't realise he was so young either!

Some of my favorite Teddy songs are: Turn out the Lights, Close the Door, When Somebody Loves You Back (oh the good memory this song provokes!) etc.

I bought a lot of his LPs back in the day. His music is one the ever green music that I listen to in my ipod and in my car all the time.

Great man, great voice.

Thank you for the music Teddy. May you RIP.
