It's the day before Sally's operation and she hopes for a sense of normality, and Rosie's happy to oblige with her inane chatter about a breast enhancement.

Later at Underworld, the mystery of Sally's time off crops up again and Carla intervenes to stop the girls badmouthing Sally. However, when Rosie overhears their comments in the Street, the young Webster can't keep quiet and follows them to The Rovers to confront them.

Realising where Rosie's gone, Sally follows her inside, just in time to hear her telling the girls that her mum's having an operation. How will Sally's colleagues react when she reveals the truth about her time off work?

One person in the pub is forced to keep quiet about the fact that she's known about Sally's illness for weeks - and Tyrone's oblivious to his wife's deception as he takes in the shocking news.

Meanwhile, Dev's nervous about throwing the twins a birthday party at the flat but Jesse promises to help guide him through it. The event goes without a hitch - apart from Jesse feeling that his new assistant Sean stole the show! Sunita's delighted by the lengths that Dev has gone to, while Matt's left feeling decidedly sidelined.

Joe brings up the subject of life insurance with Gail but she reminds him that they can't afford it with the state of their finances. Later, Joe retrieves some paper that Gail's been practising her new signature on. Just what is he up to?

Elsewhere, Eddie winds up the residents when he uses their bins for his overflow of rubbish; and Ryan celebrates his 18th birthday with Sian and Michelle.

Writer: Joe Turner

I really like Janice but the writting is so incosistant for her however I liked that she was the one that showed genuine remorse, I really do enjoy the Janice/Sally relationship.

The final scene in the pub was so contrived.

Rawseh is as bad as the actress who plays her... How shallow can you be wanting a boob job when your Mother has breast cancer? What are the writers thinking? I'm sorry but has any of them actually had a parent who announces they have cancer? You really can only focus on one thing!!!

For which I for one am very grateful.....it makes it so much easier to read the posts which are actually about the programme.

I used to subscribe to a corrie newsgroup, which always had entertaining and useful views. The every single thread got hijacked by a group of about 6 people who just kept making stupid wisecracks to each other.

If you carry on a chat, why don't you use pms or open an instant messenger?

These threads (Corrie, Emmerdaily, etc..) are for spontaneous reaction to what you see on screen, and are not for in-depth thought on particular points, that's what makes them fun...

Maybe fun for you and your group of friends....I read the posts after, often days after, I've seen the programme, when the thread is sometimes 15-20 pages long. It's very annoying having to trawl though hundreds of short comments, most of which don't even carry a reference to explain what they're about.

If you and your group want to do spontaeous reactions among yourselves, why don't you open a separate thread for them?

No offence intended, just that your post gave me the opportunity to express something that's been building up in me for weeks now.

Am I on my own on this, or does anyone else feel the same?

I don't think you have grasped the concept of the "Dailies" (Emmerdale, Corrie, and EE) - they are just comments on what you see when you see it - it's not a group of "friends" - newbies join every day as they like the banter. If you want to add a serious point of view you can go on the Emmerdale, or other discussion thread. When you see a thread for a soap with the date, it is a "banter" soap thread...

When is it ever? Emmerdale has been kicking Corrie's backside for some time now - the gap in quality only increased tonight.

But some of us are not able to watch and post at the same time. Should posting well after the episode has finished be excluded

It was an interesting choice to have quite a Sally-centric episode without her actually featuring in it.

I haven't been able to stand Rosie for a long time, but she reached a new low tonight, going on about a boob job when her mum's preparing for a lumpectomy. I'm not sure that even someone as brainless and self-obsessed as Rosie would be quite so insensitive. The writers have made her into an entirely unsympathetic character and she's probably beyond redemption now.

Bleedin' DS! I haven't much to quote from now

Evenin' RK. Evenin' MrB. Evenin' Marz. Evenin' Faye. Evenin' JD, Evenin' SULLA. Evenin' Lotty. Evenin' Picky. Evenin' all others
Evenin' Banimon! And all the rest of you who couldn't post

I have a sneaky feeling that the seriousness of the situation hasn't quite sunk in yet with Rosie. Look at her reaction when Sally said that 'hopefully' she would get well. Her face crumpled and Sophie had to comfort her. She can't comprehend that her Mum might die. I have to admit, rather embarrassingly, that I was the same when my Dad got cancer when I was 19. He was my Dad, he'd always sorted everything out, he was the rock, he'd be fine. He died a few months later and I don't think I've ever got over the shock but boy!, did I grow up. Never been that same naive person again.

Can I give a big cheer for Rosie here by the way for the way she took those nosey b!tches from the factory down Did they not think that there might have been something wrong? Carla had no problem and surely THAT should have told them something. And was I the only one who wanted to punch Kelly when, after Kevin had told them, she said 'well that makes ME look bad now!', no real thought for poor Sally

I'm continuing to love the lovely interaction between the Webster girls. Instead of being at each others throats they're really coming together in a crisis

With respect to your comments, perhaps those that do feel the same way as you know not to read the various episode threads.

If you feel so bothered about what we do then why don't you take the initiative and start a serious discussion thread for like minded posters.

Likewise no offence intended but I'm baffled as to why you continue to read something that annoys you. I am not saying how we conduct ourselves is the right or wrong way, but the various soap threads have been running for years and are all very popular if posters don't like them they don't have to read or post in them. The Mods are okay with it and until they ask us to stop being humorous and to knuckle down to discuss in serious depth what is on the screen I shall continue to post in the same style.

I sometimes join the Emmerdaily, but not often. And I never read through all the posts as the whole point of it is to comment at the time. There are other numerous threads for all the soaps for more reasoned comments.

With Corrie, there are two good ones, about the suspension of reality, and Joe's bizarre dealings with the loan shark. I assume Joe is going to do something even more stupid and forge Gail's signature.
