Amanda Donoughue's Bad Acting- Now We Know Why Bad Girls Was Axed
She made me cringe tonight. The actress playing Maisie was very good though. Amanda has a lovely voice but her acting skills are not very good. Even in Bad girls in 2006 she did not make a good job as Wing Governor to actresses like Simone Lahlib and Claire King. Also way too young to play a mum to teenagers.

However I must admit I thought she was brilliant when she was angry. |

I thought she was the best. I found Natasha the most believable and natural in the situation while most of the others like Maxwell Caulfield and James Sutton were absolutely dire.
In such a big episode I would have expected everyone to really shine but the majority didn't. |

She was fantastic when I caught her this morning in bed for a change rather than on the sofa.

You are joking right? She was fantastic. And her acting had nothing to do with Bad Girls being axed. That was down to ITV lol

I thought Natasha, Maisie, Nathan and Faye were all brilliant. Ryan came somewhere between brilliant and awful and Mark, not a lot needs to be said.

I don't expect Hollywood from my favourite Yorkshire soap and I don't get it either. Emmy is generally populated by decent, solid actors which is what it needs. Bringing in bigger names doesn't always work (I think Maxwell Cauldfield, whilst very suited in personality and voice to the role, is a bit poor, but after tonight's ep, I doubt he'll be bothering me much more
)I do think though that as a whole tonight's ep was a great one and on par with one of my all time favourites, Charity & Cain leaving (Charity getting 'shot' being my favourite bit!). Makes a nice fast paced change from the dreary Ashley stuff (which I feel could have gone a lot further) and I think Amanda did fine. |

I wish people would stop moaning about bad acting lately. Ok I know Maxwell wasn't that good, but overall everyone was good and it was a great hour of drama.
You can't expect everyone to act perfect. I know its a forum and people can say what they like, but why so many threads about it. The acting never really bothers me that much as I am interested in the story. Until I came onto this thread I didn't really notice the acting so I didn't let it bother me in the slightest. |

I don't usually dispute other views, but I fail to see how Amanda Donohoe's acting was bad last night as stated in the OP. I agree there seems to be a lot of posts on the acting H & F, but all soaps contain varying levels of talent as you say. Most of the acting's excellent IMO
![]() Regarding Mark/Maxwell, I have never really moaned about him, but many regulars on the daily do. Yes I sometimes agreed with them, but It never bugged me in the slightest, some people seem to get really worked up about it. I just think that I could never do what any of them are doing so I praise them all, even the weaker actors. |

I dissagree I think she is good actress.
And the girl who plays Maisi is ok I suppose. I don't know why people say she was OTT. I thought it was great. She looked devistated.

I didn't think she was bad... But I definitely don't think she was as good as people were maing her out to be on here. There were just time where she just seemed to totally lack emotion like in the kitchen scene with Maisie.
However I must admit I thought she was brilliant when she was angry. |

Bad Girls wasn't axed because of Amanda. I liked the eighth series, a lot of people didn't, because I thought it was heading back to the original series of Bad Girls - getting a bit more hard-hitting - however the directing by Barnaby Southcombe didn't do it any favours.
As for Amanda, I think she's a great actress. |

Actually, she's the only member of that family that wasn't cringe-inducingly awful last night.

I really quite liked her performance last night! I thought she was outstanding, just like Alice Coulthard.
I thought the scene with her in the kitchen with Maisie was extremely true to life. Maisie was hysterical and Natasha didn't know how to make it better... it's right that Natasha would be a little quiet, to let Maisie calm down. I think her reaction was perfect. Kudos to Amanda! |
