Were the writers trying to be humerous? or was it supposed to be high drama? It ended up being neither, just a badly scripted French farce.
Also Billy stating the wind had blown away a vital page of the will, then going outside to look for it - In what looked like a fine windless Autumn day. I just felt embarrassed for the actors*

*Well apart from Sam Womack, as she shockingly rubbish in every scene

It must have been an attempt at humour. They cannot possibly have expected intelligent people to have taken it seriously .
Barbara Windsor must have thought she was back in a Carry On film

I was half expecting Ronnie to get a handsome carriage clock, an elegant occasional table and a blankety blank cheque book to go with the pen.

Yeah, it was pretty desperate stuff- a lawyer would have more than one copy of the will to begin with- it was obviously just done to 'rachet up the tension' but what tension is there really- presumably he gives the pub to Roxy- can't think of any other logical beneficiary

Even if he did give it to Janine- and the man wasn't that stupid- his legal wife would be able to contest will on the basis of an entitlement to a legal right share (that't what we call it in Ireland but it is similar in UK)

Why drag it out though? Seriously, we are expected to beleive that Billy would stop for a 'X factor length' dramatic pause in the middile of a will reading before annoucing the beneficiary- nonsense

Because Diederick Santer is a fan of the show and a really big one since he was a teenager as he has said in interviews, he thinks that the Mitchells and the Vic are the biggest thing in the soap.

I wasn't to bothered by yesterdays cliff hanger as i knew if i watch in two weeks time i am going to to know who the owner of the Vic is and probably in five years time it will have changed again.

This whole who murdered Archie thing has been farcical it seems that it spilled into every other characters lives even Staceys Bipolar. But that is one of the only things that i didnt like about Santers time on EE, he over used the Mitchells giving them the biggest storylines, having as many character revolve around them as possible.

yeah- I am not really criticising Eastenders per se- don't watch it enought to have a view- although I thought the New Year Syed/ Zainab/ Christian wedding scences were excellent- and I am sure will win awards

I just think that maybe on paper they though this was going to be a lot more dramatic then it appeared on screen- but it was completely incredible (unecessarily so) and it just didn't work
