If the Brit Awards were based on what music critics liked then I'm pretty sure artists like Animal Collective, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The XX, Wild Beasts, The Horrors and Bat For Lashes would be big winners this year but somehow I don't see that happening..

He just sounds petulant, he's obviously desperate to be recognized at the Brits.

The worst thing about that was the sheer hypocrisy of it all.. He claimed to be in this "sticking it to the man" and "sabotaging the shallow, demeaning music show" mentality BUT was happy to even be there so he could promote himself on the extra factor.

I actually really like Calvin, despite the numerous stupid things he does and says. His twitter is really funny, and he does make good music. And I don't believe he is after a Brit, he does really seem to only care about his fans liking his music, and not about how the public percieve him. He doesn't seem to take himself seriously at all, which is refreshing amongst some of all these other pop tarts around at the minute *coughTHESATURDAYS&CHIPMUNKcough*

And, all the bands the OP has listed are all of the Alternative genre. Why do people seem to think that this is the ONLY good music being made? Yes, I generally do prefer that kind of music, but believing that it is the only good kind of music is very narrow minded, I find

I never said that this is the only good music being made! I'm not even a fan of some of the bands I listed, I can't stand Animal Collective for example.

I was referring to Calvin Harris' comments implying that Brit Award nominations reflect critical acclaim when it doesn't. The bands I listed are what the critics are loving at the moment but I'd bet my house that none of them are gonna win a Brit Award this year.. basically rendering Calvin Harris' petty argument pointless, desperate and misinformed.

But, I don't think he really cares that much about a Brit. Seriously, although he probably would like one and be overjoyed to recieve one, I don't think he'd be at all bothered if he didn't.
