what will they replace it with?

will it be a new soap or will they bring back Brookie and put into that timeslot.

Will it be more friends or Simpsons?

What do you think?

They might buy one of the American soaps.

Hopefully it doesn't get axed for a start off!

But if it did, if they showed reruns of Friends again I would cry. Too many reruns on that. Maybe they'd show repeats of Brookside from the start or something.

It would leave a big hole in the C4 schedule and quite possibly one in their PSB 'remit' too. Maybe something set in a Midlands town with a mix of affluence and deprivation, somewhere like Derby or Nottingham, pitched at an audience like Brookie's and with a rich vein of social realism, a multi racial modern British cast and plenty of sex, violence, drugs and scandal.

Nottingham it is then!

I only started watching Hollyoaks properly last Christmas after completely giving up on it during the time Brookside was aksed as I was annoyed that they binned that off for some teen soap. Even thought it's not fantastic, it's decent enough for that time of the evening, so I hope it doesn't get axed, but I've read in here that the viewers are drastically dropping, so if they can get rid of Brookside after 21 years........

Hope it doesn't happen as I love Hollyoaks.
I dont think they'd buy an American Soap though as only Bold & Beautiful would fit in the half hour slot.
They could maybe show How I met your Mother and Scrubs etc, what they show on E4 is my guess on what they'd do.

Hollyoaks wont get axed.

the soap has such a huge fanbase, too many people would kick up a stink - if it was going to be axed.

wouldn't happen, the soap is too well loved.

They have to give the new guy a chance. If Lucy carried on, I imagine it wouldn't be so safe.

An axing rumour might be just what HO needs to rally that fanbase and give the production team a wake up call!

They simply go on ratings and ratings wise, it isn't really well loved...

Theyd better not axe Hollyoaks. I would break down. I love Hollyoaks!

I Hollyoaks doesnt get axed but from what i hear this new guy seems to leave soaps like Brookside and Family Affairs and they get axed but he succeded with the Bill.

I would like to see either a new soap or a new version of Brookside. I think a new Brookside has potential as they could bring in new familys to go into the houses after it turned out they werent nocked down but i dont think they should bring back old faces as it should be like a new soap a freash slate.

Yes if channel 4 were to ever axe Hollyoaks as it could happen, they try replacing it with a show that is able to produce five episodes a week.

The biggest problem with bringing Brookside as some have suggested is that it cannot be on at 8.30 in the evening and the competition between 7pm-9pm is to strong.

So it would have to be on at 9pm which would hurt the ratings.

So I think that is a non starter.

it doesnt have to be full of swearing and you can do storylines like rape and gritty storylines like that at 6:30 now so they could.

well she is being replaced by Paul Marquess, so if anyone can turn Hollyoaks around he can, I would not count it out yet.

In terms of ratings it was a success though.
