Heat pad for dogs - help please
fat controller
16-01-2010
Our wee Smudge gets cold during the night, despite having a big soft puffy bed and loads of blankets, and I was wondering about getting him a heat pad.

I remember someone on here linked to a website that sold one that gave a constant gentle heat for about 8 to 12 hours, but I can't seem to find it on the search.

Can anyone help?

His bed is right next to my side of the bed, and he wakes me up trying to jump up on our bed - I usually try and wrap him in his blankets to warm him up, but during the really cold snap even that wasn't working - I relented and let him snuggle under our duvet at our feet on those nights, but I don't really like the idea of him being on our bed, nor do I like the idea of being woken up.

When he does wake me up, he feels cold, and is generally shivery - - its not that the room is that cold, but I suppose he is only a wee thing.

No worries. I have one & they're great.

Not for my pets - I'm the one that uses it!

He is only a tiddler - very small Jack Russell size. We had a covered bed for him before this one, and he would lie on top of the top bit until it flattened and made an extra layer underneath him - saucy wee git

My little terrier liked a cardboard box. We'd close it all up and cut a hole in the side just big enough for him to go in and out.

Chuck a few blankets in there and he was as happy as Larry.

You should realise though, if a dog's fur feels cold it's because the insulation it gives keeps its body warm. Wanting to get into your bed is probably because it prefers your bed!

There is that - he is a right wee sook - loves his comfort and cuddles, and invariably wants to be snuggled in between you and the arm of the chair (which is where he is right now)
