I have already ordered BT Vision, Broadband was activated on Fri and Vision box arriving on Wed.

I have done some tests so far on the Broadband speed and getting between 6.5MB and 7MB which I am very pleased about.

Anyway my sister already has BT Vision so while I was at hers today I had a proper look at the system. I was amazed at how good it actually is and far more content on there than I actually thought there would be. I think the BT Vision website needs to improved to show exactly what is on BT Vision.

Glad you like it!

it is a great service!

replay is invaluable, some of the films are in HD and are very good quality!

Defo a good service.

May I ask, are you subscribing to a value pack?

the ESPN offering BT has is more than just a standard freeview channel that everyone else gets. BT also provide ESPN replay on top of that.

the whole aesthetics of the user interface is very pleasant to look at. the only grumble for me is the lack of slow motion. (I like to use that when watching the football league show.)

but other than that its a super bit of kit! the search is a very good tool as it will search by ANYTHING weather title, actor, director.... you name it.

you'll get the black box methinks.

Jam - it's a decent service.

The Replay Service is superb IMO.
Ok - there's a fair amount of content, some new to me, some I'm not fussy about.

The Sport Pack and Prem/SPL football On Demand is very smart and the Bronze pack (if you can negotiate a good deal like 3-6months free/half price) is great value for money considering ESPN is included.

I always like to be balanced. I really like the service but there are ways it could be better. HD On Demand is limited because of line speed but there are a couple of samples you can check. It looks good (but don't think I'll be using it for PPV films).

Would like to see more HD content for the TV pack myself.
Would like to see "Live TV" broadcast over the network. I think that's the evolution that could take BTV onto a new level.

Last comment - Picture quality - I think it's great for VOD. Freeview is decent quality too if you get a good reception and use HDMI.

thats a point

HDMI is stunning, on mine the colour is so vibrant it smacks me in the ruddy face.

depends on LCD though and do steer clear of phillips TV's, their HDMI implementation + BT vision are a match made in hell.

It's for HD content Jam (of which you need to download to watch but can start watching part way through download)

I'm hoping it is gonna be as good as you guys describe it.

However, after receiving my delivery this morning, whoever was putting the order together forgot on little thing. The actual bloody Vision Box!!!

But, it's coming tomorrow now, so fingers crossed.

LOL, that is just so typical of BT. It must be very annoying, but funny from our side, sorry.

How on earth can they forget the Vision box? it is not a small thing.

Quite easily, as mistakes do happen due to computer or user error!

As it turns out, it appears that it was the BT.com ordering program. It added all the peripherals to the order, but for whatever reason it didn't add the box.

Note to all potential new customers. Pick a preselected packaged, don't amend ANYTHING!!!!

Just waiting for it to arrive.

TBH the phonecall to them yesterday was 50% annoying/50% funny. Only line I could get thru on was Technical help, cos none of the IVR options fitted, so it filtered me to Technical.

So when I completed DPA he asked what the problem was to which I replied "well, technically it's not a technical problem, tho technically, it's a problem!"

And we laughed. Then he transfered me and they ordered me a box!

Got my BT Vision box this morning.
Had it up and running in no time and am very pleased with the content on offer.
I am saving myself about £14.00 due to cancelling MuTV and my HD Pack. And getting ESPN for free which 2 weeks ago I was paying £12.00 for.

wicked.

glad you like it too.

ESPN free is a bonus. and you are getting ESPN replay too.

I don't think any other service offers this!

so if you miss a show Colin, it'll be on ESPN replay later. another bonus thats often forgotten about.

its under On demand > sport > ESPN replay

Im on Gold pack.

kools

its essentially

freeview + VOD.

if you take any value pack you get ESPN included free, except you pay a one off fee for the viewing card which is around a tenner.

plenty on there.

I've had it for over a year now and I love VOD. When PVRs first appeared, I thought that they were an absolutely fantastic advance in TV viewing, but I think that VOD takes things on another step. BT Vision is great, it's just a shame that more people don't know about it.

There is a lot of people who do know, and loads that don't, but even the people that do know are not interested.

If I went into work and asked everyone if they would change from Sky, that is if they have sky to BTVision, most will say no chance, why? because of sport.

If BT can get Sky spots and if it will make a difference we will have to wait and see.

It is nice to have competition, but at the moment Sky have none and I have no idea why they get so worried when stuff like Freesat and Canvas is announced.

On demand have it advantages and disadvantages, well for me it have. I love the idea of just being able to watch what you want, when you want, the problem with me is that when I had my Top up T.v box on the go, I mainly watched live shows, because they was on, stuff I recorded would just stay on the box and not be watched. Even the Top up T.V content was hardley touched and yet there was some things I liked.

I would like some sort of on demand service if the content is there, I do use Lovefilms for my DVD watching, since I don't watch T.V at home now, apart from the odd thing on Iplayer.

I just wonder how long BT vision will keep going as it is, as BT got it fingers in the Canvas project.

I'm sorry but someone had to spoil this Vision love-in.

I'm about 9 months into my contract and am counting the days until I can cancel.

The VOD works well and for a few weeks I enjoyed rummaging around in there. After that few weeks though, I had seen all I wanted to see and as I'm not interested in American television, there has been little added that I want to watch.

I have Bronze pack with film and sport. The films on Picture box started to come around again after only about 4 months so I don't use that any more. And who wants to watch sport that isn't live? The pack is good value as it includes ESPN. I watch ESPN with my card in a CAM in my TV rather than in the Vision box because it keeps 2 tuners free for PVR recording while I'm watching live sport. Recording ESPN to watch later would never happen for me.

I made a huge mistake in ordering vision when I moved home. When I add the cost of my line rental, Broadband (Which has to be unlimited for my needs) and Vision, I could get phone, broadband and Sky Sports 1,2,3 & 4 from Sky in HD for less or from Virgin in SD with super-fast broadband.

I'm undecided about which of the two I'll chose, but I know one thing; BT won't see me for dust!

Well I can tell you I have SkyHD and that will be going in a few months.

Also Sky I was paying £60 a month and that was just for the TV, as my exchange didnt have Sky. So yours might be the same as well.

I think you might be best with Virgin, which is a mixture of Sky and BTVision, as they also offer ondemand content.

If I choose Virgin it will be because of the higher speed broadband. As I said, I'm not interested in VOD. I'll soon be able to get BBCi and ITV player via my Freesat HD TV anyway but doubt I'll use it. My exchange is unbundled and offers Sky broadband.

So my choice really comes down to the added pixels of Sky Sports via Sky or the added bytes of broadband via Virgin.
