What did everyone think?

Me, I thought we saw far too much of The Saturdays and not much skating.

Very disappointed with the camera work.

Yes, I agree, there were points when you could hear the audience going nuts but you couldn't see what the pros were doing because the camera was on the Saturdays. Frustrating!

Agreed.
I was disappointed and frustrated too.

Yes. I watch the show to see skating not singing.

I was really annoyed about this. The skating routine looked great but they kept cutting away just as they were doing a lift. If they didn't want to show us the routine, why bother doing it all. Grrrr.

I certainly didn't tune in to see a group of girls writhing about in undies and heels anyway

But surely the Saturdays are special guests (with a record to plug). Why wouldn't they show mostly them?

Anyway they are hot.

I expect they were feeling quite cold on all that ice.

Don't put the pro skaters with them then - if they want to showcase the Saturdays, then showcase the Saturdays and do the pro dance separately.

Agree with the above post, they were not there to skate it was to plug the new single, and they looked great to me

Because the show is called, "Dancing on Ice" maybe?

Anyway The Saturdays are shit imo. Poor man's Girls Aloud, but without any of the personality and catchy songs. I honestly dont know anyone who likes them or likes their songs.

There was poor planning by the directors. It's understandable that if you have a pop group on that they will take up a certain proportion of the camera time, and it did seem as if the routine had been designed so that there were short bursts of exciting stuff that were to be cut to.

Unfortunately, the timing was all wonky and the cameras would cut to the middle of something spectacular.

It might have been the positioning of the group, and the cameras that made it difficult to make the clean cuts from one to the other at the right times, but it was shoddy. I quite like The Saturdays and I like the song, but I was starting to resent them for hogging the cameras, even though it wasn't really their fault.

The routine by Fred, Mel, Alex and Luc was a brilliant routine - they are all very exciting skaters to watch, I really enjoyed the song too, I thought it was fine (slightly too much of the girls writhing around, but as a PP said they were guests with a song to plug).

I hope they do this every week during the results show.

What I saw of th pros was very impressive, and I agree that it seemed designed to be performed in short bursts at certain points in the song but the camerawork was out-of sync with the pros. If the girls' podium had been in front of the judges' desk so the pros were in front of them rather than off to the side and back a bit it might have been better.

Despite that, I thought it was great to see (some of) a professional routine involving professionals only (ie no Torvill and Dean) - yes Jane and Chris are instrumental in the coaching and choreographing of the show, but I would like to see more of the professional skaters as skaters, and not as props/support for the celebrities. It would be great to see something like that every week - a T&D routine at the start of the main show, and a pros only routine (with or without musical guests) in the results show, with the pros actually being named.

Did they even plug their album/single?

When The Saturdays management have paid for the production costs themselves (which is totally normal) you can't expect the focus to be on the skaters.

Having said that, some of the camera work was a bit shoddy.

They could have used split screen, which they've done when they've had guest singers in the past, and shown both The Saturdays and the skaters.

The Saturdays were plugging their single, of course they were going to take prominence over the skaters!

With the sales for Wordshaker being so bad, they could do with plugging the album more than the single

I agree - I want to watch the skating if we must have bands/groups/solo singers put them one their own.

That's what the single is for. They promote the single which in turn promotes the album.

I agree, the sales have been awful though.
