Humax 9150 demands to scan daily following software update.

Friends have the Humax 9150, and since last week's software download the box demands to scan every time it is brought out of standby.

In fact, a message bordering on essay length comes up, along the lines of

"Following recent network changes, your box now needs to scan for channels. It will also need to perform a default reset. This may need to be performed several times. Do you wish to proceed?" OK/LATER.

Our friends have done this three times, a full scan and then the demand for the reset, which erases their recording queue list.

They are now understandably rather fed up.

I thought of doing a factory reset, followed by a channel scan, but as it's done this several times already (albeit in the opposite order I think, I wasn't there) it seemed a bit pointless.

Software is 1.00.17. There is a potential problem as we're situated on the Caradon/Huntshaw overlap and our friends use the higher-band Huntshaw, but a check revealed that Caradon channels have not been memorised on the Humax.

Has any kind person got any further suggestions, other than to choose "LATER" until the problem stops.

Thanks, and apologies if this has been covered elsewhere (I couldn't find anything, but....)

this problem has been reported here many times. Humax are aware of the problem and are apparently promising a software fix. The only known workaround is to install the previous software version, do a reset to default settings; install the new software version and do not do a reset to defaults.

Apologies that I missed the previous discussion, a search didn't seem to bring it up (unless it was a very long time ago).

Trespassing on your goodwill further would it be possible to flag up the link please, so that I can read up on the problem.

Renewed aplogies.

Very kind - thank you wgmorg.

Looks as though our friends will have to live with the pop-up.

Much appreciated.

I also get the pop-up problem whenever the Humax is brought out of standby and so emailed the problem to Humax technical support. The next day I got the following reply:

"This problem will be resolved by a software update that is due to be broadcast on the 6th February. Please leave the box on stand-by at night on the 6th February to ensure you receive this."
