Hi there

I use a sonyericsson t610 mobile and have been trying my best to setup the send/receive email function.

I’ve successfully created an email account settings on the phone for my o2 email which will work via GSM & GPRS, settings as follows;

Connect using : o2 wap 915000 (data account i created to dial the 915000 wap number. my online 100 tarrif gives me 500 mins of wap per month via number 915000. I can also tell phone to connect using gprs as I also get 0.5MB GPRS data free per month)

Protocol : POP3

Incoming Server : mail.o2.co.uk

Incoming Port : 110

Mailbox : emailaddress@o2.co.uk

Password : ********

Outgoing server : smtp.o2.co.uk

Outgoing port : 25

Email address : emailaddress@o2.co.uk

Download : Headers & text

From name : scott creaser

Signature : no signature

Copy outgoing : off

Check interval : off

The above setup works – now here’s the fun bit. I thought that I could customise the above settings to enable access to other ISP’s email addresses such as blueyonder or freeserve. I substituted the mailbox/password/incoming server to each ISP’s pop setting but get error message “server not found”.

Do o2 restrict GPRS/GSM email access to their own o2 email addresses ? Is configuring the phone just the same as configuring outlook/outlook express to each different ISP pop settings, i.e. my computer’s internet connection is with blueyonder but I can check my freserve/tiscali emails by using the blueyonder smtp info and the relevant ISP’s pop info.

Anyone have any foolproof way of using the o2 915000 wap connection to check other isp’s email without having to go the “webmail” route ?

Also, anyone else having probs accessing the sonyericsson website ? http://www.sonyericsson.com is simply not playing today.

Thanks

What you've tried sounds about right... I know it definately works with other e-mail servers because I've used it before!

Sometimes the server settings can be a bit tempramental, so try using in the IP address instead of the word based address, for example 195.188.53.61 instead of pop3.blueyonder.co.uk

Cool, glad to hear that worked.

If you need to look up any other servers you can do it here: http://www.all-nettools.com/toolbox
