Copier which will print negative images.

I need to get a small photocopier/scanner which has the ability to do negative/reverse printing for art work - ie black prints as white, and vice versa.

(Nothing to do with photo negatives).

We have a large one at work which has this facility, but does anyone know of a fairly inexpensive one for home use?

hi

a bit of a 'long shot', really - my local Aldi store still had stock of their Medion MD 90093 scanner, which includes a light box for negative/slide scanning.

- ok I know that isn't what you want, but the software can apparently be set to negative/positive to accommodate the light box settings of slide/negative - so I'm speculating it will do the same with a 'mono' file?

- reason I mention it is that my local store reduced said scanner to £34.99 - whether that is mirrored in your store, or if they even have stock is moot, but you didn't say what you considered to be 'cheap'?

Thanks home_alone. I was hoping to pay under 150.00.

It's not something I understand much about, to be honest, but it does sound as if that would do the trick.

I guess my best bet is to go to stores like PC World - at least the staff will know what they're talking about, unlike me!

You expect too much

Also, a "light box" is for photoghraphic negatives - it basically bounces light around so that the negative is backlit and so is able to display.

From your "(Nothing to do with photo negatives)." I'm guessing this isn't really what you want?

It sounds like what you actually need is something like Adobe Photoshop, or Corel PaintShop Pro - infact, I wouldnt be surprised if windows paint had a negitive option, with any scanner...

Or just the freeware GIMP application, which used to be pretty good - probably got a LOT better in the few years since I last tried it.

Being a pedantic old sod, its nothing to do with the scanner, its the printed output side of things

Yup. Perhaps the OP is wanting a printer scanner all-in-one job?

Many scanners can be brought with the ability to scan negatives.
I have a Canon 8800F, check the canon website. Cannot remember how much I paid but it was less than £150.
If you already have the image them programs such as GIMP (so hate that name) and Photoshop elements will be able to invert an image for you.

That's right - what I need is a copier that, when you copy black text on a white ground, it has the option to come out the reverse - ie white text on a black ground.

(It needs to do ordinary copying and scanning as well).

As I said in the OP, we have one at work that does this, but it's the usual large size you get in offices.
I need a small one for home.

I've phoned round the usual shops but no luck.

For £150 it would probably be a case of buying a scanner and a budget laser printer and doing the negative effect in software (possibly the scanner driver, as has been mentioned).
