I have done my research on the net and found that it cannot be done yet as the phones baseband has been changed. If this is so can u tell me if u have managed to get around this problem.

Many thanks

its possible for the newer models if you bought the 3gs when it was first released last july you will be able to jailbrake it no problem. If you bought the newer models from orange and vodafone your more likely to have the newer baseband and only a tethered jailbrake is possible.

This means the jailbrake will work but don't power down the iphone and let it go off otherwise you have to apply the jailbrake again each time you do.

hope that helps

I got my phone from o2 last may. It's only the 3gmodel. But upgraded to 3.1.2. Is there anyway of degrading the baseband to 3.0
