Found the answer - only the Hitachi boxes are getting the update for now. Bush branded boxes will get the update soon!

Hello there!. Just bought (At Argos) a new Bush 320 HD (VestelT7300?)receiver last week to replace my Goodmans which has permanently frozen with both "on" and "record" lights on. It does what it says on the tin,so to speak,but it aint user friendly!. Spent 5 hrs Sat. night trying to follow how to set up the favourite channs....Prog info ever so tiny,no slow motion,no visual notice of recording,block and tackle needed for the remote,no pic in pic, in fact quite a few disappointments,Apart from one important consideration,- The Price!. Kinda makes it a bargain for HD!.Wonder how much it was a couple of years ago?..

It is most likely a T7655. Presumably it is the £99 one? That is a good price if it is running the latest software (black/blue colour scheme), and that isn't even a year old yet - not an old model by any means.

Older models with amber software do have larger text in the user interface, although for me I always thought everything was too big and spaced out. I much prefer the newer emerald interface layout, as you get more items on screen in the library, EPG, etc. But I can understand how it might look small for some, particularly on TVs smaller than 40".

I'm an older model with dodgy eyesight and a 26" screen!

The v1.20.2 software update for Bush branded T7655 Emerald boxes was released a few hours ago.

It will be useful to hear from any Bush T7655 owners whether their box did update to v1.20.2 or not. I'm half wondering if there is a SD version of this box, if the Argos site is to be taken literally, but then it makes no sense that the HD versions are cheaper (even before price reductions).

Hi,this is the version no. that is on my box next to the "Receiver Upgrade"setting.It was this version no. last week after buying it,and after reading your post last night,I was rather hoping that it would have auto-upgraded over the air through the night.But it didnt.There is a manual and automatic scanning option,but neither have worked.There is a third option called USB Upgrade,but I havent connected to my PC yet.

Any mention of 10ab, 10bb or similar on the packaging anywhere, or on the label (if it has one) in the underside of the unit? You are the second person to report this. It is possible that older Bush boxes may be updating fine. More news as I get it.

Done all those checks,no mention anywhere of 10ab or 10bb.BUT(!),I can confirm that the labellings DO include "T7655". Can you please confirm that,if there is an update sometime,should it happen over the air?. At least we are on the same page.... Thanks.

The update will be via the internet, rather than via the TV aerial (as was the case in the past).

Sorry to be a pain,but I really dont have any experience on how to do this.Do I buy a cable with a USB plug at each end,and plug in,and ask it to update?.

The USB update option is something different - it is for updating via a memory stick once you've copied a suitable software file on to it from another device. If you have your box connected to the internet (via the Ethernet socket on the back, connected to your router), it should update automatically or if you choose to manually check for updates via the menu.

This is going to seem like a really weird question. I am looking to get a DVB-T2 box that has the following characteristics, and I was wondering whether any of the Vestel boxes fit the bill?

(1) Has a network socket and can use BBC iPlayer.
(2) Responds to a network ping when running.
(3) Does not respond to a network ping when in standby.
(4) Does not switch itself on in the middle of the night to update the EPG and/or check for updated firmware. Alternatively, has a user option to disable the overnight switch-on.

I have a Humax HDR-FOX-T2, but that fails on item (4).
I also have a Manhattan HD-T2, but that fails on item (2).
Finally I have a WD TV Media Player, but that fails on item (3).

So, is there a Vestel box that has all of these characteristics? Thank you.

Vestel boxes generally pass everything except 4. When the box is in active standby it does respond to a ping (as the box is essentially on), but when in low power standby it is completely off and not booted, hence won't respond to a ping. Unfortunately, recent boxes switch on and boot up every 60 minutes regardless, before switching off again after a few seconds.

Low-power standby would be OK for my purposes.


That is definitely not OK for my purposes.

The number of nights this occurs on the HDR-FOX T2 can be reduced (but not eliminated) by installing the custom software with the dsiable-OTA package and deselected the disable-OTA's option for an automatic daily reminder to be generated.

I have never tried the custom software for the HDR-FOX-T2, so it had not occurred to me that it might provide some control of the overnight switch-on. I will definitely have a look to see if it will provide an acceptable solution. Thanks again.

I have 5 T7650 PVRs - 4 Bush B1TBHDPVR and a Logic L1HSTB12. One of my Bush units is on V1.49 SW via an OAD a while ago but the other 3 Bush units and the Logik are all on V1.36 SW. Is there any way to update the SW to V1.49 or whatever the latest SW version is via the USB or via other means?

I have T825 and T816 PVRs and a number of T7650 units (see previous post). On the T816 and T825 units, to get slow motion you press pause during playback and then press fast forward (or fast rewind) and you can alter the slow motion speed with the fast forward or rewind button. On the T7650 units this does not work. Is there any way to achieve slow motion on the T7650 units or has this feature been missed out?

I can't find any way of doing it, Fewkeste, and I can't find my manual either (situation normal), and I can't find an online version either. I miss having slomo.

I may have updated a certain website - as far as I know, the update file should work with the Bush, but might not with the Logik (might have a different product ID, in which case it won't see the update on the USB stick).

Regarding slow motion, it is not available. MPEG2 "trick modes" including smooth fast forward and rewind were listed as a feature of the STi5100 series chipset which powered the SD PVR models. So maybe slow motion was a chipset feature too, which the Broadcom BCM7230 used by the T7300 and newer might not have. Certainly, the Broadcom has severe limitations when it comes to radio stations, and I know the Digital Stream, for example, has the same issues as the Vestel boxes in this respect.

Thanks - I've just visited a certain website and downloaded the file (and also T816 and T825 ones as well). A T816 S/W version modified to have series record and 30 second jump - brilliant!!
