Interesting to see - thanks

Actually didn't think there were that many 'square' tracks all things considered - although Ken Dodd making 2 appearances can never be a good thing!

You can just see the Beatles 'effect' as well as their own track they have the Peter Sellers talking Actor version of Hard Days Night plus the US soul tracks arguably wouldn't have been known over here if not for the exposure that the likes of The Beatles, Stones & Animals gave them by covering them in the first place

Some good numbers in this chart in amongst the schmaltz!

I've always had a soft spot for 'You Were On My Mind' by Crispian St.Peters.

Those Ken Dodd songs, The River and Tears drove me nuts in the 60s. Ugh! My husband used to sing them to annoy me.

I don't like the Overlanders' version of Michelle, in fact I'd class it as GBH of the eardrums. They sound like drunken pub singers, and they're out of tune signing at the beginning.

Still though, I guess the chart is better than today's. I like the fact the kinks are in the Top 10, they seemed to have been erased from most music history, lol.

just the Beatles single on it's own is more valuable than todays top 100

Will you be posting a different retro chart every week for comment? That'd be good.

I can do it if no-one else fancies - I've done similar on my blog before (complete with videos, TV programme/cinema/news stuff and magazine covers).

If it's a one-off I'd have to ask why pick 1966 specifically?

Thought it was well known - he does it as 'Shakespeare's Richard III'. I can't hear the original now without hearing his rendition.

Probably the most memorable Shakespeare cover until Laurence Harvey's "Hamlet" striptease in "The Magic Christian"

NOOOOOOOOOOO WAAAAAAAAYYYYYY! i love their version...far superior to the 'tinny' beatles orig!
