nano and itunes library on 2nd pc
calvin&hobbs
23-01-2010
my ladyfriend has got an ipod nano with some music put on it by a friend off their own pc. She has bought a netbook and wants to download itunes onto it and use up her itunes voucher card to start her own library off. Am I right in thinking that if she synchs her nano to itunes on the netbook, the tunes on her nano from previous will be deleted as they are not on her netbook or in the new library??

thanks

sharepod is good

connect up ipod, itunes starts and you close down itunes. start sharepod and copy all to PC

this will add all music to your itunes library

then sync your ipod in itunes

Another reason for mp3s.

I have a huge number of mp3s stored on one PC and I can use them anywhere on my local network, or copy them to my portable mp3 player and play them in my car.

They're all mine, bought and paid for, so no problem as far as I'm concerned.

iTunes is so "Apple". Mostly a waste of time and money.

thanks for all the help.

I agree with last one, I hate all things apple but this is not for me, but my lady.

I believe you cannot sync with 2 machines. You have to be un-sync with the first iTunes which I believe removes the songs.
I have no experience of SharePod, but it sound like it is what you need.

This is not an mp3 issue as such, but an iPod /iTunes control issue. This control is one of the reason why I will not switch to Apple products (no matter how good they are...)

If it is nano, it is possible to copy all audio/video tracks from it to netbook's disc (eg, using Windows Explorer), import them into itunes library and sync the ipod. Everything on the device will be deleted first and then put back. From that moment on you can use it normally with this netbook and iTunes.
