I agree - for me it's all about the music and if the lyrics are good, it's all the better. As long as it's delivered with conviction, I don't care whether the singer hits all the notes perfectly or not.

I would say lyrics first, unless of course it is an instrumental.

Then music, then vocals. You can have the best voice in the world, but if the song bores the hell out of me, I'm not interested.

Because what if the music is actually pretty good (Riverside, Break Your Heart) and the lyrics are dire? What happens then?

Lyrics will always come first for me.

Then not sure about lyrics and voice

I like songs with meaningful lyrics but also like cheap throwaway pap.
Similarly a nice voice can be beautiful but I also like artists with rougher voices who bring passion to their work like Cat Power.

All the way as it does not matter how good a voice is because if the music and lyrics are crap then the whole songs is gonna be crap no matter who sings it.

It depends entirely on the song/artist/band.

Sometimes good music doesn't really need good vocals or lyrics, it just needs appropriate ones. Sometimes good vocals and lyrics don't need the most innovative music in the world to accompany them. And sometimes, music and lyrics and the way they're delivered are so entwined they can't be separated without becoming less than the sum of their parts.

I'm always more interested in what someone has to say, over how they say it.

all three must come together equally to create a singular entity ,thats whats missing in a lot of music , too many artists put importance over one aspect of a song .
a lot of very good lyrics are wasted by banal pop melodys and vice versa
rock or guitar based music a lot of the time lays far too much dependence on
effects pedals or massaging poor lyrics making it almost work to listen too .

construction of a song is almost an afterthought for some bands , one band that leaps to mind (and i expect some will dissagree ) is biffy clyro fantastic lyrics and melodys but somehow never paired .

Music is far more important than the other too. There are a couple of songs that I like for the melody and music alone - I don't think much of the singers' voices but the songs are good enough for that not to matter. That said, if they're covered by better singers, even better.

Ideally a good song should have clever lyrics but I still like some that have pretty naff lyrics.

In a live context, singing in tune comes first for me always, but I wouldn't include that under vocals. Even if someone conveys alot for emotions, it grates on me when they are out of tune :s.

Then after that, it will be

Music
Vocals
Lyrics

Then hair, makeup, choreography as far away from everything else as possible.

On the whole

1. Music - if it doesn't sound good, then why listen any longer? But it's 'good' in the sense that I like it, not anything else
2. Vocals - Too much waily, waily, or voices I just don't like will put me off a song

Amd a long way 3 - Lyrics. Good lyrics cannot overcome a tune I just don't like (most Reggae, modern RnB) or a voice I can't stand (see Dylan, The Smiths etc). On the flip side, there are some great songs with terrible lyrics

It depends on the style of music but I suppose the most important thing to me in any genre of music is the melody so I guess it is the music.

1. Music
2. Vocals
3. Lyrics

However the importance of the lyrics and vocals can change depending on the style of music. For example when Im listening to indie/rock music the vocals would be the least important thing to me.

How can music not be #1 with anyone? Unless the vocals are ridiculously off-tune or the lyrics consists of "poo poo pee pee" I don't really care that much as long as it's a good tune.

It's just another way of ruling out Cheryl Cole (but then, music's not exactly ticked off there either).
