Apps on iPod Touch not opening
WillowFae

I don't know if anyone has had this problem before, but I have tried to open my apps (a couple of them are new, but the others I've used before) and they open but close down straightaway.

Any idea what the problem could be?

sounds like its running out of memory. possible a memory leak issue somewhere. can you do a reboot of the touch by holding down the power button and the select button at the same time for a couple of seconds? see if they open after that

Will a reboot wipe all the data back to factory settings?

hmmm.... apparently if you download an install a new app from the itunes store then it might fix the issue. try that. doesn't matter what app. any app will do the job

damn - thats supposed to fix the majority of these app crashing issues. okay - looks like you'll have to do something a bit advanced - boot it in recovery mode.

follow the instructions here - good luck!

Not sure about those instructions (don't know what the 'home' button is - are things different on an iPod Touch to an iPhone?). However I had, before you posted your last comment, done a complete 'restore to factory settings' and then recovered my content but it still has the same problem.

Make sure you have the apps in iTunes on desktop, remove them on the device (touch an app's icon and hold for a few seconds), then connect to itunes and let it reinstall them. Try with one if it brings something. I had the similar after upgrading firmware, but this does not seem to be the case.

I had this issue on my iphone. In my case, the 'App' was out of date. If you go to the App store on your device check in the 'Updates' section and update any App required. This fixed my problem after me pulling my hair out for a couple of hours.

What software version is your ipod touch? When I was on v2.x this used to happen. Either updating an app or deleting one and redownloading would fix this. This was on all the apps that wouldn't open (eg. downloading one fixed them all) . I've a G1 ipod touch btw. Since I've been on 3.x this hasn't happened.
