NOOOOOOOO! EE has too many brawling families already. There are rifts and divides between so many residents on the square it's ridiculous. Kat and Alfie are the only likeable well-matched couple around, why split what works?

Oh we can't have happy couples in soaps. It's not allowed !

Wouldn't we all be shocked if Wilfred and Nanna marry and he dies on the honeymoon or at the altar or the reception or even better we find he has a secret wife who turns up to interrupt at the very point the vicar asks 'any objections'.

No! Kat and Alfie are supposed to last! Like Dot and Jim! Jack and Vera! At least one of the Slaters should have things work out for them for a change. : (

I cant see them splitting up for long.... Im sure they'll get back together (Or is that just wishful thinking?) The Kat and Alfie romance was one of the main storylines of last year, and it took them so long together, that I cant believe that they would just split them up only 5months after their wedding!!! Im sure that they'll work things out and go back to being the only happily married couple in Walford........... I have to say though that if these rumours are true that Im looking forward to seeing this storyline unravel! It will be good to see Kat and Alfie in a major storyline again, as I think that Shane and Jessie work so well together and they have such chemistry that im sure it will be gripping viewing...........xxx

I think this is one of many big storylines for the couple. They've had it easy of late and only now with the debt things are going wrong. I think they will split up for a while but will get back together. Kat sleeping with Andy will devestate Alfie and Kat will probably scream "I'm dirrrty!" like she did on thier wedding day lol Nah they'll be together again someday. People say oh why can't they be left together, if nothing happened to them and they were happy all the time, it be nice for a while but eventually it gets boring. Its a good storyline for them.

In the meantime whilst they're apart they can interact with other characters and have storylines with them. Thats my big problem with EastEnders at the moment, the same characters interact with each other and it gets boring.

Having an happy couple is too much of a challenge for the scriptwriters. Continual break ups and make ups are far easier

But you've got to admit it will make great viewing..... Remember how gripped everyone was to the whole Kat and Alfie romance last year, and considering they've only been married a matter of months i'm thinking that this storyline will be as big as last years..... Everyone will be willing them to get back together.
If you think of the most succesful soap couples over the years, you will notice that they never have a smooth and happy relationship, take Den and Angie for instance...... And I dont think Kat and Alfie will be any different........This was always going to be a fiery relationship, because they are both such strong characters, and If you ask me I think that this will be just the first of many problems that the couple have, . Besides wouldnt we all get bored if they lived happily ever after?.....But I think that no matter what they encounter they will always end up back together, you can tell that they're meant to be together (I cant help being a hopeless romantic!)....... xxx

Yep exactly, all of soaps most popular couples have split up or been through big bust ups at some stage. Angie and Den, Sharon and Grant were hugely popular and look at them! Grant an Tiff, Vera and Jack on Corrie. The thing with Alfie and Kat is that they'll be back together and then torn apart and then face big problems together aswell as apart. I agree, this storyline will make gripping viewing and may bring EastEnder out of the dauldrums, well for a few weeks anyways lol

In fact EE is going to be interesting over the next few weeks, Mark's death, Janine and Laura's feud, Laura's murder and Indecent Proposal II starrin Alfie, Kat and Andy lol

ugh - is it really too much hassle for an EE scriptwriter to come up with a storyline which doesn't involve wife beating, or "happy" couples splitting up?!

Just one in a long series of crap EE storylines in the past year. The idea that Alfie is such a dunderhead that he would borrow money from the man whose fiancee he stole a few months ago is completely ludicrous. Alfie isn't (well never used to be) an idiot.

They seem to have to get a gangster angle in on everything -- now Phil's on the run and Dalton's dead we've got Andy and Dennis as the 'ard men. It's tiresome, unbelievable and often verging on the embarrassing to watch, and I just feel sorry for the actors. There are still some good actors there, but for how much longer if they don't get anything decent to do?

Funniest line I've read all day. Frankly, I think most people were actually BORED of it by the end and just wanted them to get on with it...

Oh golly I cant contain my excitement

Marks death waawoee The character has left the soap for ages now much to the disgust of avid viewers of the Bill.

Janine and Lauras fued - how original

Indecent proposal II - words fail me - It was so obvious all along

Why oh why oh why are they killing Mark off?

Could it be that TPTB at 'Enders dont particularly want Todd Carty darkening their door either?

Realistically, he couldn't have been around for much longer if he was diagnosed with AIDS as long ago as what he was - he had HIV for ages longer than normal as well LOL

Sorry Mrs McDonald one of my friends have been diagnosed with HIV for alot longer than Mark has. He looks after himself which helps and is quite an expert on this horrible virus. He doesn't let it hang over his head. I think it's just an easy way for the production team to end the character and makes a change from a car crash or the black taxi cab storyline...

Sorry MrsMacdonald but i find your response very ignorant. HIV and Aids are both terminal diseases but have no time limit on them. My father is HIV positive and has been for over 20 years, you can live a long and fulfilling existence with either. Next time you post i suggest that you check your facts before just in case you are in danger of offending others with your comments on a subject that you obviously know nothing about. Its a very ignorant perspective to have!
