Don't like the idea that something can be 'the best', as I can get excited by a particular album for a while then get a bit bored of it, only to get excited again years later after giving it a bit of a rest.
That's not helping is it? Anyway the 'best' psychedelic album for me at the moment is July's 1968 album 'July' (CD with bonus tracks). 'Dandelion Seeds' and 'The Way' are fantastically trippy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=El3o_...eature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86dDq...eature=related |

The recent 'A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble' compilations by The Amorphous Androgynous (aka The Future Sound of London) are pretty good

In more recent times, At War With the Mystics by The Flaming Lips sounds very psychedelic to me. It's hard to know whether they're actually taking themselves seriously, as this video demonstrates. But they certainly try to blow your mind.

I like psychedelia, but even The United States Of America by the band of the same name was too psychedelic for me! I'll stick to The Beatles 1966-1968 and Pink Floyd, thanks!

I emailed him on myspace and bought a copy on 180 gram vinyl. It's a whole album of quintessential English 80s psych inc Hilly Fields.

I'd agree with some of the earlier posters.
Definately 'Piper at the gates of dawn' by Pink Floyd. |
