Nickys attention seeking
flique

I can only think his scoring was to draw attention to himself. He didn't seem to get asked much for his opinion last week, it seems you have to score low to make sure you get asked.

Maybe he can't help comparing the couples to the Euro champions he's just been watching!

I could see what he was trying to do; but botched it by marking Hayley and Daniel so low to begin with, which didn't give him any leeway because the majority of what came after was worse

I agree - he was using Hayley as a marker, but the problem was that hindered him because she was one of the better skaters. He obviously thought the likes of Danny, Kieran, Mikey and maybe Daniella were going to blow her out of the water (and indeed I did think a couple of them were better than Hayley), so marked her slightly low to give him more scope. It backfired, but at least he marked everyone low to keep consistent.

They made me laugh too, at least he got chance to make them.

I would like to hear the opinion of all the judges and less bloody adverts.

Well said

Sometimes we're only getting one couple and then adverts again yet we haven't got time to speak to all the judges.

I'd enjoy it much more on the BBC so that, like Strictly, we have enough time for judges comments and don't have to sit through twenty sets of adverts!

I have to admit, I did laugh at Nicky tonight though. I don't have a clue what he's on about 95% of the time

I know, it's silly isn't it?

I taped most of tonight's show (on account of BB being on at the same time) and it's amazing how quickly you can get through the performances when you fast forward the ads and all the VTs!

He really gets on nerves. His marking is ridiculous and he comes over as a complete plonker. No wonder Karen so obviousley cant stand him.

Considering he and Karen were partners there's very little chemistry between them now

i just found this. karen and niki comment on why their partnership split, he found religion and she wanted to tour with torvil and dean...

I thought it was well known that Karen and he had split on less than friendly terms and that she felt let down by him. They were a very talented pair but with Torville and Dean plus a host of Russian dance pairs they were often the "might have beens" apart from a bronze at the Europeans.

I do think Nick's marks are odd sometimes but i mostly agree with his comments & he usually gives constructive comments so that the couples have things to work on.

Can't really blame him - at the expense of the experts (Karen, Nicky and Robin) Holly turns to Jason and Emma far too often.

Pity he picked on Hayley to make his point.

Oh - but their Chaplin routine was great! I actually enjoyed it far more than Bolero!

I think Nicky is rarely asked his opinion because he comes across as a bit of a "loose cannon". Its too often Nicky makes senseless and embarrassing statements and he appears to be in constant competition with the of other judges.

Whilst I can see the logic of each judge individually ranking the couples it is the overall score and not average rank that determines where they are placed on the leaderboard, this may or may not make a significant difference to their placings before the vote.

Nicky really is a loose cannon.....and not in a good way..

His comments are generally constructive but his marking tends to be BIZARRE

I was pleased to see that this week there was a much better
spread of commentary from the judges....

Please lets have lots more from Karen and Robin but maybe not too much from Mr Inconsistancy..Nicky

Yes, he mucked it all up for himself by his first low mark. I wasn't sure if he was just really out of sync with all the other judges and so decided to guffle on about scoring bench marks, he seemed a bit flustered, but at least he marked them all low after that.

I really enjoyed his commentary at the Europeans. He knows his stuff and is very perceptive.

His marking on DOI though is a tad odd!

Well he does know his stuff as do Karen and Robin but I am a more than a tad confused as to why Emma Bunton and Jason Gardiner are on the panel of judges in the first place. It seems to be the flavour of the month to employ people as judges who don't know the first thing about the subject they are supposed to be judging (in this case ice-dance) and I find that totally bizarre.

Even odder is the fact that Jason Gardiner is so deluded he thinks he can argue with a European Gold Medallist over the technicalities of a Reverse Spiral. The man is a joke. He is the attention seeker - not Nicky Slater. You only have to look at the way JG is dressed to see that.
