Hey all

I have no trouble recording channels on Freesat, but it seems when I record any of the Channel 4 channels (e.g. CH4, E4, etc) that it appears to only record in set times such as 9pm-9.30pm on the dot and not using Accurate Recording signal (digital satellite version of PDC).

But if I record on any other channel that supports Accurate Recording such as BBC1, it works fine.

Has anyone else noticed this? Before I report it to Channel 4, I was wondering if anybody can remember if Channel 4 has ever support Accurate Recording technology on their channels. Being a PSB, I would have thought they did but I haven't had Freesat that long.

Cheers,
Mark

I don't know about the history but agree that accurate recording seems to be an issue currently with C4 and E4 based on the feedback from my partner who has missed the end from a few programs recently. Reluctant to turn it off though given it seems quite useful on other channels.

Thanks for that.

I've just sent off a message to Channel 4 via their online contact form. Will post reply here when I get it.

But for something to change I think they will need multiple people enquiring about this topic, not just myself.

Just got a reply from Channel 4 (impressed with how quick they were):

Dear Mark,

Thank you for contacting Channel 4 Viewer Enquiries.

Channel 4 do employ this feature, however, at the moment there is an ongoing
issue with this recording feature on Channel 4 programmes. Our engineers are
aware of this and are working hard to rectify the programme, however, at the
moment there is no indication how long this will take.

In the meantime we advise, if possible, you manually record Channel 4
programmes in order to ensure you get the whole programme.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Thank you again for taking the time to contact us here at Channel 4 and for
your interest in our programming.

Regards,

Channel 4 Viewer Enquiries
Glad to hear they are working on it, and hopefully it won't take too long.

However I still think that the more people that contact them, the likelihood that this problem will be fixed sooner.

Mark

Slightly on a tangent - I have noticed that, when reserving a programme to watch on Ch4, it invariably changes channel when the programme has already started.
