FFS really is there any point!? the original version has been in the top 10 for age, the glee version has been doing extremely well and is now at 2 on itunes. why on earth would anyone want to hear it done again by yet another x factor monster! i wish joe loads of luck etc but he needs some original material.

^ Pretty much said all I was gonna say! Damn you! But yes, what's the point? I'm sick to death of that song now. But he has Cowell, so chances are he'll probably go ahead with it because Cowell only sees ££££ signs. *sigh.*

bit to late isnt it, there are already two versions in the top 10, as if anybody else will buy it.

This is why he wants to do it, he has to jump on any bandwagon going if his career is going to continue because he doesn't have any of his own songs.

No, keep it away from him - well away from him. It's enough with the original and the glee version in the top 10. He only wants to release it because he knows it'll go straight into the top 5 like the others.

Just wish he'd get some ORIGINAL material. You know, his own songs??

It's far too late to release it now the moment has gone Glee has beaten him too it. If he was going release it it should have been the first single and released before Glee was aired here.

The reason the original was in the charts (before Glee) was Joe! If it wasn't for him this song would possibly (again, until Glee) still not have hit the top 40!

I think it would be better to have it on his album but not released as a single.

Not quite true- a lot of people saw Glee as it was shown in the US (either on youtube or by torrent) and I'm pretty sure he would never have done the song if Glee hadn't made it a hit in America prior to his performance on X-Factor

Cowell only picked it for the show due to the huge success the Glee cast had with it in the States.

What a load of crap Journey have been in the charts for 65 weeks with the song well before it was featured on the xfactor

just what I was about to say!
this song has been getting bigger for a while
for me, it's become a party song over the last year, year and a half, and it's been played in a lot of clubs for around the same kind of time

It is rumoured that the reason Joe performed the song, was because the Glee version was so popular in the states. The song is a karaoke classic. I love the Glee version, but I also love the karaoke version performed on Family Guy.

A few weeks ago I was listening to Journey's original on the radio, I think it was Capital FM and the man on there said it had become so popular because of Joe performing it on X Factor. Needless to say I was like "What!?" He didn't know what he was talking about.

An American Idol Finalist sang it because of its popularity on Glee. OBV then Cowell picked it for Joe.

There is an even bigger thorn in my side to all of this LONG BEFORE Xfactor Joe -4 Years ago WE recorded a version of the song and was told it would never work. and it was never released.

DOH yet again A&R don't have a clue.

Haven't Journey already come out and stated that Cowell approached them with his arrangement for it and they flatly refused it, saying he either release it as it was written or not at all. They green-lighted the Glee version because they really liked it (Not heard the Glee version, is the arrangement of the song any different or is it just the fact its sung by a group of people and in a Glee Club Style that is different?)

No way he'll be getting to release it unless Simon allows him to release it without a key change or a choir which is highly unlikely.

Edit: Thought sohttp://entertainment.stv.tv/tv/150952-journey-refused-to-allow-x-factor-winner-to-record-their-song/ Nothing to worry about it seems.

But it didn't hit the TOP FORTY (which is what I said) until the week of 14/11/09, the week after Joe sang it on X Factor.

I thought he sung it nicely and had initially thought he should have had that as a deubt single rather than The Climbt but this was BEFORE I saw Glee.

Joe you seem a sweet talented guy but don't bother - you ain't gonna top Glee.
