In an increasingkly sad year for us more senior music fans, it is sad to see that the legendary record producer Tony Clarke passed awy on 4th January 2010.

As a producer, Tony was at the forefront of the UK progressive rock genre turning The Moody Blues from a washed up blues band into one of the biggest progressive rock acts in the 1960's/70's. He produced their 1967 album Days Of Future Passed which contained the song Nights In White satin and was one of the first albums to use a full orchestra as part of the music rather than just for backing. This paved the way for bands such as Yes, Barclay James Harvest, The Nice and Emerson Lake And Palmer.

When the Moodies went on a hiatus in 1971, Tony produced the Tamla Motown band The Four Tops version of the Moodies Simple Game which reached number 10 in the UK charts.

After producing The Moody Blues album Octave in 1978, Tony finished his association with the Band. he later produced the Clannad album which contained the Music for the 1980's TV series Robin Of Sherwood.
