Humax Freesat PVR - additional 'watch' option

I am extremely happy with my Humax PVR, but wonder why there are options to record either a single programme, or a series, - but only the one option to 'watch' (eg a single programme) - no 'series link'.

I know you can manually change the option to repeat at the same time/day etc each week - but - that doesn't take into account when the stations decide to change the slot!

I've never really understood why the 'watch' option is there at all - surely you're better off recording and starting watching it when it suits you rather than having the set automatically changing channel.

What's the "use case"?

I can think of two uses for the watch option. One is recording a programme to an external recorder and the other is to change automatically to a 3rd viewable channel when recordimg two. For example if you are recording say BBC HD and CH 4 and you want to watch BBC 1 a watch reservation on 951 will let you view BBC 1 without interuption.

Combining the two would let you record a 3rd channel using an external recorder.

It could be used to pop up a reminder that there's something I want(ed) to watch, in case I'm watching something else at the time: at least then I can make a choice...

Or if you're planning to watch something live (because you'e recording two other things at the same time) it will switch to the channel at the appropriate moment so that you can rewind/pause and watch the "live" programme in the buffer.

Without the "watch" option you'd have to remember to switch channels manually before the programme started. This way you can be ten minutes late for the programme and still watch it.
