Should Marriages to an animal be recognised in a court of law?

Okay, some of you might be thinking "this is verging on silly now" however, there are gay and straight marriages now recognized.

Read some of these stories

Okay, it is silly, but why should these people and their partners denied the same legal rights as the rest of us?

Just like you can get married you can also get divorced

Because animals cannot say 'yes'.

This isn't even comparable to same sex marriage. There is consent in same sex relationships that you cannot get with animals.

What would a cat do with half a house in the event of a divorce?

Verging on silly?

No. Marriage to anyone or anything that can not give consent should not be recognised.

Although I am quite attracted to my toaster.........

Oh I don't know, have you seen the teeth, hooves and claws on some of them?

I would take that as a pretty clear NO!

Let's face it, they're already among us but we've just been too polite to say so.

Absolute lunacy! And I should think highly illegal too, if you attempt to consummate the marriage. Or extremely dangerous and painful in the case of StressMonkey's toaster.

Much as I love them, I will not be marrying my two tortoises. Just imagine how much I would have to shell out for that wedding!

Doh! A pun worthy of inclusion in the Silly Sausage. http://www.sillysausage.***************/index.php
