does anyone own a Sagem freesat recorder?

I would be very grateful to hear from any owners of the above freesat PVR. I have had my eye on the Humax as the only option until the Sagem launched recently.

I have had a Sagem freeview PVR for some years and have to say it has proved very, very reliable although the user interface is a bit basic. On paper it seems at least as good as the Humax but real experience is what counts so if you have any please share!

There's a thread here with a few negative comments about it http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s....php?t=1182182.
Ignore the posts that go a bit off track

oh yeh, thanks for showing me that.

My instinct says its less expensive than the Humax, a 18 months more up to date (therefore better?), is likely to get software updates (I believe Humax have stopped development now awaiting new models) and experience of Sagem freeview PVR has been good.

Some of the comments I've read seem to be a bit biased simply out of loyaty to Humax, almost wanting Sagem to be rubbish even though not actually used one.

dont like the bit about the fan though. wish you could trial these at home before you commit!

Oh and just for Graham - it says here http://www.sagemdigital.co.uk/smart-navigation.aspx that you can do your favorite usb archiving thing!

That is interesting, I had been led to believe that the Sagem Freesat+ STB did not have the facility to output to USB and had therefore discounted it as an option.

The manual for the Sagem mentions nothing about archiving, and describes the USB port as for future use. So too does their PR agency, who offered no clues and no timescale about what that might be.

Review on Register Hardware sometime soon.
