Various Artists - Everybody Hurts (for Haiti) Discussion
I've been looking for a thread all over the forum to discuss all the news and updates on Simon Cowell's charity single for Haiti, a cover of REM's "Everybody Hurts". Sorry if there is already a general discussion one, but couldnt find one so here it is.
List of confirmed artists to feature: Susan Boyle Miley Cyrus Cheryl Cole JLS Take That Westlife Michael Buble Mariah Carey Rod Stewart Alexandra Burke Joe McElderry Robbie Williams Kylie Minogue Jay-Z James Blunt James Morrisson Mika Anyone else I've left out let me know! Have to say I think the line up is excellent , apart from Joe McElderry (sorry Joe fans!). He's yet to establish himself so I think he looks out of place among all the bigger stars. However, I would have preferred a wider range of music genres on the single, kind of like Perfect Day. |

i'm all for raising money but this has been announced very late after the event and also after 300m worldwide has already been pledged so i just think the people involved in this don't just have haitians best interests at heart.
better late than never tho but i won't be buying it. |

I can never understand why people cannot just donate without having to have something in return

I like how The Sun are claiming it as 'theirs'. Read any Sun article and they will say 'OUR Haiti single'. What, they suggested it to Cowell perhaps? thats it. doesnt make it theirs. just tickles me, that.

I wonder why Dannii wasn't asked, or did she turn it down?

I don't know if it was ever confirmed, but several papers were saying Florence Welch (Florence + The Machine) was involved when it was first announced. I haven't heard her mentioned since initial reports, though.

I'm not expecting it to be the best single ever, but hopefully it will do well, and it is for a good cause.
I'm glad Westlife are involved - it's the first time they've been asked to be involved in a charity single, and I know with Band Aid 20 they wanted to be involved but weren't allowed to; and I think they deserve to. It will be worth a listen anyway, and any money raised will help anyway, even if that's not the primary motive of some of the artists involved. |

A collection of all the most boring singers ever. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they're doing it for a great cause, but I find most of the singers there so dull. When they play the song on Radio 1 it'll create a massive forcefield of boring that sends everyone to sleep the moment James Morrison and Will Young open their mouths.

No surprise Buble and Mariah are on there, they're so far up Cowell's ass... and then there's all Cowell's acts. Everyone else in the lineup should have said 'no' and just left it to the Cowell machine. Instead you get the likes of Joe and JLS alongside Jay-Z(!), Kylie(!!), Rod Stewart(!!!).

It's not 100% SHITE! Just because it doesnt include YOUR favourite artists!
They're not the best in business.. but they are the most successful.. problem? |
